Hi Dear All, I'm using my raspberry PI4 as a CoDeSyS PLC (Build from scratch with custom electronics). I was able to implement all fieldbuses with the exception of Modbus Serial. I'm using the internal Port (GPIO) and I configured it in /etc/Codesyscontrol_user.cfg the following away: [SysCom] Linux.Devicefile.1=/dev/ttyUSB0 Linux.Devicefile.2=/dev/ttyS0 I'm using COM2 on Master configuration. I'm using a interface board from TTL/RS485 (bidirectional board), and it's works perfectly with other devices but not in CoDeSyS. I'm able to send data with python script and read it on my pc using putty, but when I use a modbus slave simulator to interface with codesys I always get red icons on master and slave. (Please find image attached). I'm pretty shure that this might be a bad parameter on my CoDeSyS runtime configurstion file. Can someone help me? I'm stuck and this is for my master degree certification.

I have a project with a Festo CPX-E-CEC-C1-PN PLC (Run-time version 3.5.12.50) that I have been developing on just fine using Codesys V3.5 SP19 Patch 5 (64bit). I am at the stage where I wanted to use the Festo HMI screen, and have added a RemoteTargetVisu object to my application. After adding this object, I am no longer able to log in to the PLC as I get an Unresolved Reference warning for 'USERMGRUSERGETPROPERTY' towards the end of the download process. I was able to find this post (https://forge.codesys.com/forge/talk/Visualization/thread/fc686a6cb2/) where the two possible solutions are to "set the placeholder to emtpy" or update the runtime. Problem is, I don't know how to do either of these things, as I'm still very green in Codesys land. I'd be happy to update the Festo PLC runtime, as that seems like the better option, but have not had any luck in finding a tutorial for this online. If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

Yes, I tried to do what you put in the first code. However, I have a problem with that and that is that the inputs must be declared with the type. I have many data types running in my code (real, int, uint, bool) and I can't put them in the same function, another thing is that I need to instantiate that function for everything I want to write to the slave. You put a for to 200 but it means that it has to be the same data type and inside the array, but I want to get them individually. I'm struggling to do it in a good and efficient way like wago's E-cockpit does. in the first screenshot you can see, you simply type in value, change the package of things you want to write in value change and it does everything by itself automatically, without comparing any old and new values and even less having the need to activate a bool. , it is perfect.

I'm having a tough time trying to get Modbus working on a Festo CPX-E PLC; it throws these pre-compiler errors as soon as I add in my Modbus TCP Master 3.5.12.30 to my project: I'm confused about the C0046 error, as I have IODrvModbusTCP 4.3.0.0 Library installed. So I thought maybe I needed to use the newest Modbus TCP Master 4.3.0.0, which is in my device repository: However, whenever I go to add this underneath the Ethernet adapter (which is version 4.2.0.0), the only TCP Master version available is the old 3.5.12.30 one, even if I have Display all versions checked.: I even went so far as to delete the old version, but then there were no options to add a Modbus TCP Master under my Ethernet adapter. What needs to be done to use the newest Modbus TCP Master? Or are these pre-compiler errors unrelated and I'm missing something? Any help greatly appreciated.

I am trying to figure out how to get a JSON payload to properly publish to my MQTT Broker. I am able to generate JSON using the examples from Codesys, but when I send that payload via MQTT there are characters that are extra or not recognized by my MQTT client. Any idea what could be causing it? Anyhow it looks like the TON function from library is not working in these FB that are instanced in the various visualizations, as instead they do if I create some instances within the POUS. Anyone has ideas of how to make them work?

We have finally solved the problem. The version of the Gateway in the computer that worked (3.5.11.0) and the one that didn't (3.5.17.30) was different. We have three different Codesys 3.5 versions installed because we work with different controllers. I believe that, depending on the sequence you follow to install the versions you get a different Gateway version. To solve the problem you first have to disable the "obsolete" services. Open services, serach for (in our case) CODESYS Gateway V3 Version 3.5.11.0 CODESYS ServiceControl Version 3.5.11.0 I stopped the services and changed to Manual Start. Then you have to create the new services. In our case, from a Command Prompt session (cmd): SC CREATE "Codesys GatewayService Rigual" binpath="C:\Program Files\CODESYS 3.5.17.30\GatewayPLC\GatewayService.exe" and then SC CREATE "CODESYS ServiceControl Version 3.5.17.30" binpath="C:\Program Files\CODESYS 3.5.17.30\GatewayPLC\CODESYSControlService.exe" remember also to set them as Automatic Start!

Hi, I am trying to create a project using a raspberry pi, I have added the modules for the Pi and MCP3008. I have encountered som errors that I don't know how to track down. 1. The GPIOs give preprocessor errors, but I read that this does not prevent compiling. This seems to be true. I can build the empty project with no errors. 2. After adding a SPI master and MCP3008, the preprocessor errors double, but seem similar and the project again builds with no errors. 3. I have the Opening and Closing working, but I can’t get the dialogue's position to be controlled. I have a Python program that will handle things in my application such as VISA over IP and Telnet control of instruments. I want the main control and HMI in Codesys. My problem is communication between the two. I have looked at several ways to accomplish this, and settled on having the Python program create two named pipes, one to send information to Codesys, and one for Codesys to send information to Python. The information would be packetized with \n for end of packet.. Seems simple. I think the named pipes method should work, but file reading in Codesys using the CAA file library starts to get difficult when the file is never ending, as in this case. Before I spend too much time making something that may be fundamentally flawed I want to ask. Is there a better way? Is there a way to read the file 'one line at a time' which might solve my never ending file problem? Thanks!

Hi, I was hoping I could send the two files "application.app" and "application.crc" directly to the directory "/home/codesys/PlcLogic/Application" instead of logging into the device with codesys, downloading the program to the controller and then do the "create boot application", so it will reboot with the correct program running. I think i also need to edit the file "eRUNTIME.cfg" located in the "/home/codesys/ folder, because when I create the boot application from the codesys IDE, these lines are added to the file: [CmpApp] Application.1 = Application [SysFileMap] /home/codesys/PlcLogic/Application/Application.app=0x212520, 0x2DBC747E, 2DBC747E.app I think the "eRUNTIME.cfg" file is the same as CODESYSControl.cfg I also dont know the purpose of the hexadecimal numbers etc. that is generated. When I tried to replicate what codesys was doing, I placed the same files in the same folder as when codesys generated the boot file. And also added the lines in the eRUNTIME.cfg file: [CmpApp] Application.1 = Application [SysFileMap] /home/codesys/PlcLogic/Application/Application.app The controller did not boot up with any program, so my method did not work at all. I guess these lines tells the controller to run an application and where to find it? Could any of you help me with the best way to get the compiled program to the controller without using codesys or wago-software?

Hi I am trying to import a custom information model that I created using UA Modeler. I have only added two new methods and two new object types. It is possible to add the information model to the Communication Manager and the two new object types are shown in the Information Model tab. After compiling i get the following error: Communication Manager [Device: PLC Logic: Application]: The information model http://opcfoundation.org/UA/ is required by http://yourorganisation.org/Bsp_3.1/ with a minimal publication date from 15.12.2023 but the device has only a model from 15.09.2021 installed. Probably the information model from 15.09.2021 is missing in the information model repository. The error message does not make sense to me. Should it not be “Probably the information model from 15/12/2023 is missing in the information model repository”? Anyway I have installed the information model from 15/12/2023 but not from 15/09/2021. Which makes the error message even stranger.

Hello, I hope someone could help me. I installed the newest Codesys 3.5 SP 20 Patch 1. When loading the demo files from @i-campbell I can upgrade them to the latest version and everthing works on the OPC-UA client side as expected (object "a" is visible, I can use the "ExampleMethod"). Now I * remove the "Information Model", * delete the "OPC_UA_Symbols Objects", * Add "Information Model" again * add "TestRootObjectType" again and "Generate IEC declarations" * and search for mapped instances (to get instance "a" again) Very good still working as expected. Now I delete the OPC_UA_Symbols and add it again referring to the "objecttest" from 16.9.2020. Also I redo the steps from above. The result is now, that I can't see the "a" object in the "Root/Objects" folder. Why ist this and how can I make it running? I think, it could may be a different version of the UA configuration file. I tried to build my own model definition files and got the same problem (but I am really not an expert). When someone has a actual model, which is also running in the actual Codesys I would be very grateful. Or even better, how to make the correct model in e.g. UA Modeler SW (I followed the description https://documentation.unified-automation.com/uamodeler/1.6.0/html/howprojnet_sec.html).

I have a DFRobot RS485 temperature & humidity sensor (SEN0438) connected to my Raspberry Pi via a USB to RS485 adapter. I am able to connect and read the sensor data when running a python code locally. However in Codesys, I encounter this error "A bus error has occurred." and "There was no response in time". Could this be because of Modbus Server Channel and Modbus Server Init configuration on my part? Admittedly I am new to Codesys. To get to this stage, I: 1. added some lines to CODESYSControl_User.cfg 2. added "Modbus_COM" in Codesys and set "Serial Port Configuration" under "General" 3. added "Modbus_Master_COM_Port" in Codesys and checked transmission mode is set to "RTU" 4. added "Modbus_Slave_COM_Port" in Codesys and checked server address is set to 1 (also set 1 in my sensor) 5. added 1 channel and 1 init for "Modbus_Slave_COM_Port" under "Modbus Server Channel" and "Modbus Server Init"

Hello! I am new to codesys so I am sorry if this is not the right place to ask this question. I am using codesys V3.5 SP20 Patch 1 + (64-bit) and a Groov EPIC PLC (GRV-EPIC-PR2). I am trying to build and deploy my application to the PLC, but when I log in I get 6 errors (codesys_error.png). It seems that the errors have to do with the CmpDynamicText system library which I have as version 3.5.20.0. I have tried to add CmpDynamicText to the ComponentManager section in the PLC's CODESYSControl.cfg file as described in this forum post and still hit the same error. I noticed that the library is grayed out in the library manager, which I think might be the issue. However I don't remember if it was grayed out before I encountered this issue. Please let me know if I can provide anymore info. Thank you!!!

Hello, I'm relatively new to PLC programming. I am trying to creat a ramp down function, I have an example here of what I am using. I can get the function to work, the issue is that the OUT (variable3) value is being held by the FB so after I use it once it no longer works. In this example i set variable3 to 100 and the rest is as seen, over the course of a minute it ramped down to 10 (as desired). But when I deenergize TEST_START, set variable3 back to 100, and then re-energize TEST_START it immediately jumps back to the previously held value 10. The reset on this block just pauses the function and holds the last OUT. In my case I will need the function to start OUT at a set value, ramp down to the IN (variable2) value, and then accept a new OUT value to ramp down next time the block is energized. Hopefully this made sense, if anyone has any advice that would be awesome!

Hello I'm trying to use DirOpen to access a directory where then I can read/list the files inside. But I can't list any files because DirOpen.xError is always true. In eError the message is this: " ERROR_UNKNOWN Local library error ID (0: no error; 5101: time out)**** " I have in the file explorer the path 'C:\CodesysTest\Aluminium' and to make sure I also created in the plc a folder to 'prj/Recipes/Aluminium'. I tried using the different paths, but in both it happens the same thing.Inside the folder Aluminium there is two csv files, that I want to list. I added in the library manager CAA Files and CAA Types. I am using the example of https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/libs/CAA%20File/Current/Examples.html#directory but not matter what I do, I can't get the list the names of the files. What am I missing?

In general, drives have parameter sets to adjust behaviour in such cases: position recovery, adaptation with resistant torque, out-of-position window failure, etc. (Much depends on the type of configuration set for the axis: positioner, speed controller, torque controller, etc.). I have used that type of drive very little, in only two cases and a long time ago. To tell you what is normal is impossible. I know by reputation they are very simple objects, without too many pretensions and adjustments possible. Try running traces by monitoring actual position, motor current, torque and following error. These are the most sensible curves to understand what is going on. Maybe by fine tuning the motor tuning, the current controller or the speed controller you will get something closer to what you want. For example, from DS, the motor has a standstill torque of 3 Nm. Observe with traces whether this is effective: motor current trend. Hallo, 1. ich bin komplett NEU was Codesys angeht 2. ich muss direkt ein Retrofit machen von V2 auf V3 3. Neue Steuerung: WAGO 750-8211 PFC200. 4. das Projekt in V2 hat über SNMP daten im Netzwerk zur Verfügung gestellt, oder diese gelesen 5. das Projekt in V3 kann SNMP nur noch eingeschränkt nutzen, deswegen wurde mir vom WAGO Support nahegelegt die IIoT Lib zu verwenden. Frage: Wie mach ich das? Konkret: Ich habe die WagoAppSNMP Bibliothek installiert, damit kann ich schon mal Set und Get nutzen (hoffentlich, hab es ja noch nicht getestet, sondern nur programmiert). Ist das ein schlauer Weg, das über diese Lib zu machen? Denn: was macht der SNMP_SET_PLCDATA_WRITEAREA ? Den kann ich über die Wago Lib nicht nutzen und weiß auch nicht, was dieser Baustein konkret tut (Bild im Anhang). Es scheint mir, hier werden Daten auf ein Word im Netzwerk geschrieben? Aber geht das nicht auch einfacher? Es ist ja keine Adresse hinterlegt, wo das hin gehen soll oder? Also, ich verstehe den Baustein nicht so ganz und konnte bisher auch keine Erklärung dazu finden. Hello, I am trying to emulate my code but for some reason my Codesys IDE keeps loosing connection to the emulator. I am constantly pinging virtual machine on which its running and its running fine, but codesys refuses to reconect to it, and is not able to rediscover it. Codesys 3.5 SP20 Patch 1 I have linux installed like image in attachment.(using version 4.12) Linux VM is set up to use up to 4 cores and 8gb of ram, with nothing else runing on it. I dont have a license so I am aware that the emulation shouldnt run for more then 120 minutes I am able to, login, get sysinfo, reboot etc from codesys IDE for certain period of time (5minutes) then my connection gets lost, sometimes I can login again, but sometimes i have to reboot the VM. Any suggestions what might be the issue ?

Hi, I would like to divide a project into multiple applications - as a minimum: one handling visualization and Alarm Manager, one handling I/O and plant control logic. But how to exchange variables between the applications? What have you done to get such a solution? In versions 3.5.19 and earlier, you can have Child applications, where the children can access a GVL in the Parent application. Children apps is no longer possible in 3.5.20 - but you can have 'sibling' apps - Several apps directly under PLC Logic, that is. But how do they best communicate? The Communication Manager / Data Sources Manager is sort of possible via OPC UA, but it seems like overkill and with some limitations - for example no ARRAY OF STRUCT possible this way. If you have separate devices in your project, you can exchange data via 'CODESYS ApplicationV3', but not other applications in the same device (see attachment Datasources.png). You can do it via 'Select the project type'->'Other Project' and select the same project file, but this leads to crashing the Development system when working with the variables afterwards. It would be great to hear your thoughts / experiences on this topic - Bjarne
