Hello Every one, During testing of OPC UA communication between UA Expert software and the CODESYS SoftPLC on a Linux environment, an observation was made. When the Ethernet cable was disconnected and reconnected with 2-minute intervals, on the 5th attempt, the OPC UA connection failed to establish in UA Expert software. At this juncture, restarting the CODESYS SoftPLC enabled the reestablishment of OPC UA communication. The same result was obtained when testing on a Raspberry Pi SoftPLC. What is the reason behind this phenomenon? and whether there are settings to stop this behavior? Please help. Thanks & Regards.

Hi all, Is it possible to hide or show tabs from the PLC code? I have created a few tabs in my visualizations to configure the program behavior, I'd like to be able to hide some of them if the related option in the main tab has been disabled. Pretty sure I know the answer, but thought I would ask just in case. Is there a way to set variables declared in a POU to private so that they can not be accessed from other POUs. I tried using the library pragma, but that just stops the variables being displayed in the selection tree. My compiler version is 2.3.9.62 if that's relevant, and I'm using an ABB AC500 V2 PLC. I have a problem with the file transfer library. Namely, it does not work via the codesys server. (error 5; overtime, and visualization resets). They operate mostly in local chains. I tested different browsers and VPN from the router. It works everywhere, except through access from the codesys automation server. The client, having many machines under one account, prefers to keep it that way rather than use an individual VPN just to download a backup. Does anyone have an idea what the problem is? Sylwester M.

You should not use the "open dialog" to change the value. Instead use the input configuration "Write Variable" to change a variable value in the visualization. in the setting of this input command, you can choose the Input type (select dialog).

Hello, I am trying to get TargetVisu for Linux working but i am having some troubles. The problem is that after installation it is not starting automatically on boot and i cannot start it from the update Targetvisu tool. When i try i get the following error (see attached screenshot) The file /opt/codesysvisualization/scripts/codesysvisualization_start.sh is missing... Steps performed: - installed fresh Debian 12.7 on virtual machine - installed all required libraries as described here: https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/CODESYS%20Control/_rtsl_target_visu_for_linux.html - then installed the TargetVisu for Linux SL 4.13.0.0 using the Codesys IDE Does someone know how i can fix this? Maybe the easiest solution for you is to add one STRING variable to your recipe and enter the name of the recipe in variable value. This is little bit double the work (naming the recipe and entering the value of the STRING variable), but in that case you always have the current value of the variable which you can read from the application and show in the visualization.

Hi, thanks for the link. Maybe I create elements in incorrect way. I always use Interface Editor to create variables which are used inside element (see pics). After that I place element in my visu and use Reference property to link variable or set the value. In that case the value of string is not transferred to general text list for translation as I mentioned before. Do I have to all properties which influence behavior of my element create in Frame configuration instead? What´s the difference to the Interface editor? Thanks a lot. M.

I just try to help. Anyway it is a big difference if a Store SL runtime or an oem plc and licence is used. These licenses need to be activated on plc side - so you have dependencies to the version (CODESYS and Runtime Version) Did you ever ask Epis out for this situation? They should know which license fit to their device. Even they should know if the device is capable for Softmotion and see the requiremnts in the CODESYS store: Runtime 4.9.0.0 - how should this work with Epis 3.5.16.x? Anyway refund is not a problem.

Yes it is possible. I did it a lot of times using TeamViewer VPN. Unfortunately, TeamViewer VPN only works on Windows. If the remote PLC is a Codesys runtime running on Windows, you should be able to login directly using TeamViewer VPN if it is installed on the PC/PLC. If it is not Windows based, you can still do it but you need to have a Windows based PC acting as a gateway in the middle. In this case you need to enable IP Forwarding on the Windows remote PC (the gateway) and you need to setup the gateway IP address on the PLC to be the address of the Windows PC. Then you need to add a route on your local PC to point to the gateway PC for Codesys communication. I know it may not be detailed enough but I did not want to make a whole tutorial on how to do it. Bottom line, it is possible. I do it all the time.

Hello, I would like to have, if possible, some clarification on this function. That is, I would like to understand if it is useful for managing, fom my development PC, the RTE runtime executed on a remote control. This is what the help says: Remote PLC: Opens the Remote Configuration dialog. By enabling or disabling the Control remote PC, not local option, you determine whether a PLC is used that is on a remote or local PC. Accordingly, the menu commands Start PLC, Stop PLC, and PLC Configuration refer to the local PC or a PC reached on the network. For the remote PC, specify the Target PC address, Port number, and a Timeout value (in ms) for the connection (Remote Timeout [ms]). But does this mean that I also need to install the RTE runtime on my development PC? Is it possible to have some more information? Best regards Roberto Caponi

Dear all, I am currently creating a program in the ST language. Because the program is starting to grow nicely I would like to switch to a more object-oriented way of programming. (Like for example in Python). By surfing the internet I found out that Function Blocks is the best method for this. Now I would like to delve further into this, with all the possibilities that Function Blocks have only I cannot find a clear course, explanation of what everything is around the function block thing and how to approach everything. I find the standard documentation around Function Blocks rather abstract and the examples are minimal. Therefore I am looking for a page/course/document explaining object oriented programming in Codesys (or other PLC programming environment). Do you have any recommendations on this?

Hi, I'm using a Festo Codesys PLC (CPX-CEC-C1-V3), which is connected to a HMI panel. Both exchange data via OPC UA. Occasionally, the HMI stops displaying data, and looks as if there is no connection. If the HMI stops, the only way to make it work again is to restart the PLC. Restarting HMI has no effect. When the PLC is restarted, HMI starts working normally again. Is it possible to restart the OPC UA server from PLC code? I hope this will make fixing the HMI possible without a PLC restart. Thanks

I have an IFM cr1077 display. I would like to show B&R mapp view on IFM visualization. I used coedsys web browser elemnt for this. I could see IFM working fine in Internet web browser but IFM device shows white screen and freezes. I think there is problem with IFM showing the web browser. Is my understanding of the web visu right? am I doing any mistake here?

Hello everyone, maybe someone can help me with the following problem. I wanted to insert a trend element in my visualization. The problem is that I have set fixed fonts with a scaling of 1.5 for the individual languages via the visualization manager. This setting means that I have this scaling in every element, which has been quite comfortable so far because I didn't have to set the individual properties in the text fields. But in the trend element, even if I select other font sizes or fonts in the element itself, this font is also overwritten and I get a label on the x-axis that is no longer displayed correctly. Is there a way to prevent the overwriting of the font properties in this element or similar behavior? I mean, I could change the font size of each element manually, but the Visu app is a bit larger and it would be easier to have another option. Best regards Etienne

I'm trying to read data from Tridium Niagara 4.15 OPC UA Server, but I get the error BadCertificateInvalid.
