Have the same issue: I'm making a test setup for modbus devices testing and calibration. One is run for every possible address, and it starts with minimal request: if the device is found, it continue to work with it, otherwise it's set to Disabled temporary. Those state machines are running under FOR cycle, and disabled are just skipped. Every instance have its own timer for not running too frequently and a start delay, so the actual requests are separate in time. I also check not for a single error, but have some timer to allow one-two timeouts. The small program disables and re-enables devices temporary (manually, since i could not iterate over MB devices). I am looking for an example of how to run 2 applications on 1 device that would have global variables shared between the two apps. In this case what I am trying to do is to have the main program logic run as one application and then have the visualization run as a second application. I find this https://us.store.codesys.com/media/n98_media_assets/files/000013-F/0/Multiple%20Applications_en.pdf, that talks about exactly what I want to do, but I can't find the download. The main reason I want to do this is for download speed. Right now it takes at least a minute to download our application to the PLC. A simple program downloads to the PLC in a very short time, but add visualization and the download time gets much longer. If I could download the program separately from the visualization I think that a simple program change would take very little time to download. I have tried create a GVL in the POUs view. This partly works in that both applications can see the GVL, but they each create their own instance of it and the variables are not shared between the two apps. There are ideas of using OPCUA but this raises problems with licensing and having to move any variable that needs to be shared into the Symbol Configuration. This adds a lot of management to keep this up to date. Any ideas would be appreciated thanks.

Hello, We use a controller that comes with a bunch of predefined faults. These faults are considered active and historic. They are a 32 byte array but only take up 26 bytes of data. Because of this the historic faults start at address 26 instead of 31. Active faults variable take up address location 0 to 31. Historic faults variable take up address location 26 to 57. Because of this overlap I get an error that these overlap and it wont allow me to download to my controller. This isn't an issue in 3.5.5.4 but becomes an issue in newer version. Is there a way to turn this off? If I change the address location, the historic faults then become broken without doing some manipulation in the code. The software will build just fine. I'm currently reworking the controls on a cnc press brake and wanted to load various recipes as programs to run. I'm using a 2d array of REALs to store the X and Y coordinates as well as some other program parameters in a recipe. I'd like to store all of the recipes on a computer used as the HMI that way the text files can be edited and uploaded offline. I'm using Automation Directs P2CDS-622 Can this be done through webvisu? If not would a license for Codesys HMI SL on the computer allow me to accomplish this? I've attached the Project File Thanks, Spice

I have experienced the same with one of our customers after updating EIP Scanner to 4.6.0.0 and really baffled by it. The core dump simply shows error with ENIPScanner I/O task and on analyzing it says no source code available for 4.6.0.0. Contemplating to go back to 4.5.1 but 4.6.0.0 has some really nice fixes. I guess it don't matter if it crashes anways. Please keep us posted if you find anything.

In the CODESYS IDE I have several symbols defined and I have IEC Symbol Publishing installed. On the IEC Symbol Publishing window and under the IEC Symbols Editor tab, I have dragged symbols from the tree on the left to the grid on the right. All this works fine. Now I want to remove one of the symbols from the grid on the right and I cannot see any way to do this. How can I remove a symbol from the grid on the right once I've added it?

Maybe the easiest solution for you is to add one STRING variable to your recipe and enter the name of the recipe in variable value. This is little bit double the work (naming the recipe and entering the value of the STRING variable), but in that case you always have the current value of the variable which you can read from the application and show in the visualization.

Hi! I have usually only connected one OPC client (our system) to an OPC server created in the codesys environment on a PLC. This OPC client has a lot of write privileges. A customer also want OPC access, but I want to restrict his access to only read certain values. Do you know if this is possible inside the single codesys runtime running on a controller?

Hi, thank you for replying. Basically, I have a main visu with frame selection. So, under some condition the frame will switch to a specific frame. It used to be controlled by variable using "Switch frame variable". However, I realise it will change all the HMI screen at one time. So I removed the variable, and still looking for a solution to do that. Do you have any idea?

This is a consequence of how computers store floating point numbers. 0.1 cannot be exactly represented in a computer. This is not a CoDeSys thing. Here is a link to a converter to show you the exact value that is represented when you use a REAL data type (which is a 32 bit float). https://baseconvert.com/ieee-754-floating-point If you really need to keep track of 0.1 increments. use INT OR DINT and then add 1 each time and assume that there is one decimal place.

Hello, I'm asking for help with installing the license server for Linux SL 4.18.0.0. When I try to install it, I get a message that the WIBUCodeMeter package is missing. I checked the package manager tab to see if the package is installed, and it is - Codemeter 8.40.7120.501. I've checked the CodeMeter Runtime on the target machine, and everything seems to be working fine. One thing caught my eye: the Device Architecture tab says "None" Please help me solve this problem.

Just to clarify. Output for lamp will have two inputs: from plc IN (wall switch) and from visu button. Until now I had separate object for visu button and separate for visu lamp. Now I want it to be one object, bulb icone which will change color on lamp status and yet by touching it will change visu button state. Tried "Switch Image" object but there is no way to assign switch var.

Hi! I'm sorry if this has been asked before. I have tried looking up previous topics regaring this, but even though I'm following tutorials and other posts I cant seem to get this to work consistently. I actually got the connection established on a test project after some trial and error. I only got it to work with the "Anonymous login". But after i deleted the test project and tried to get the same thing to work on another project I cant get it to work anymore. What I'm trying to do: Set up and OPC UA Server using CODESYS with the free soft PLC. I then try to connect to the OPC UA Server with the program "UaExpert". What happens: I get the error Error "'BadUserAccessDenied' was returned during ActivateSession". What I have done in CODESYS: - Added the object "Symbol configuration" and checked some test variables - Checked "Support OPC UA features - In "Communication settings -> device -> Change runtime security policy" I have checked "Allow anonymous login" What I have done in UAExpert: - Found the OPC UA server under "local". (It is showing two servers though, I do not know why. It showed the same when it worked yesterday). Se attachment - Checked "Anonymous" under "Authentication settings in the OPC UA server. I'm new to CODESYS, so it could be something elementary wrong in my settings. Maybe something in the user settings in CODESYS regarding user rights or something?

I have a turbine system that get in alarm under some condition (E.g low speed of turbine) and block the itself. When the system is stoped there is no speed turbine and the system cannot start. To give to the operetor the possibility to bypass the alarms, there is an acknoledgement alarm pushbutton. This bypass must not work for everyone but only for those client that perform the login by (User Management). Furthermore, if the user perform the (manual or automatic) logout in alarm conditions, the acknowlegment must be annulled and block the system again. To do this, I need to know if an operator is logged in the page and is working to fix the problem; otherwise the syste must autoturn off again. Now I go to study your solution, if I have explaned better and you have another idea tell me please.

I have a project in which there is a Safety device in CANopen, and the PLC interfaces with it as Master. I would like to understand if it is possible to set the behavior in case one of the SRDOs that I receive from the slave is no longer received. From what I have seen, if the SRDOs are not received, the CANopen safety status becomes "Not in progress" and the mapped variables freeze at the last value detected. I want to understand if it was possible to set the variables connected to the SRDOs to take a default value (e.g. zero) in the event of a CANOpen error during reception.

Thank you so much. This worked. Waht im trying to do here is to automatically tag each sensors, valves and so on. There is a preatty nasty tag system i working on. "_320" is not alloved. I can have a tag "+4f=320.004-RT001V" In codesys I want to build the FB in folders. -4f | --320 | --001 This is the system structure. Inside here is all of the sensors and so on. But with Codesys, I cannot tag this like this. So what I'm trying to do now is to Make a folder for the building "4f" and one for the system "320", and a POU _001. Is there a way in init to get folder names?

I want to implement an extended I2C master for Raspberry Pi Control. I was hoping for it to be as easy as creating a library with a FB that extends i2cMaster and associating it with a device following the forge drivers documentation, but I haven't managed to make it work as the driver behaves only as an i2c slave. I'm thinking this is because the forge forum only talks about extending i2c, and the master portion is omitted since most users won't want to add a custom one. I'd like to know if I'm doing something wrong. Is it really possible to make an I2C master extension device? If so, are there public examples we can check out? Any info on this topic will be appreciated.
