Hello Fraziersedge, the solution of Codesys might be to update your codesys to the lastest version but it was not possible for us. In our Codesys V3.5 SP9 patch 8 I was able to fix this bug. I change my ModbusTCP slave component version or one of the sub component version (ex: SysSocket). Look at the picture in attachement that's the receipe that have work for us. When I got the bug my version of ModbusTCP slave was 3.5.5.0 with SysSocket at 3.5.6.0 and I change to ModbusTCP slave 3.5.14.0 with same version 3.5.14.0 of SysSocket event if I still use codesys V3.5 SP9 patch 8.

Hello everyone. Raspberry Pi CM4 after some 1 week of work was hard reset mannualy several times and after these hard resets User Management file was missed (when click login button, enter login/password, error: User Management File missed). Also programm can not open file via SysFile library, but this file exists and size of him is 0 bytes, but must be more any way (I keep some kind of archive via this lib). What happens, how files corrupted? Where do I need try to find this error of the codesys or system whole? In the log files of codesys nothing interesting about this happens. Thanks for reading Is this enough hold PlcLogic and SysFileMap.cfg as reserve copy in another place for restoring the programm? And how automate restoring actions if programm files corrupted?

Hello guys, I have the following problem with the Codesys visualization (4.6.0) and Codesys V3.5.20.20. I would like to use my own HTML5 elements for my visualization. To do this, I have to select the option “Support client animations and overlay of native elements” in the visualization manager. But with the selection of this option, the visu has a massive loading delay when changing frame content. This happens even if I have not even added HTML5 elements. However, if this option is deactivated, then changing the content of the frames works without any problems, it loads instantly. I have already tried to change various refresh rates but without success. Have any of you experienced this and been able to fix it?

Hi! I was thinking of switching the OPC server config from "Symbol Configuration" to the "Communication manager" in the device tree. I Have a lot of arrays of structs that I have previously declared in the "Persistent Variable" object in the device tree. It seems as it is not supported to directly expose persistant variables to the OPC server like the "older" way of doing it in the symbol config. Is this correct? Do you recommend to just do it the old fashioned way, or should I edit the structure of the global variable list / persistant data / OPC server and set up the OPC server from the "Communication manager" object?

Using Codesys runtime for Linux and thinking of the process of preparing multiple such systems for my customer. I don't necessarily have physical access to these units, they can be (very) remote. The idea so far is to use an image to install the Linux OS and codesys runtime. Application updates can be done by distribution of the PlcLogic/Application/application.app and application.crc files. But whats the most practical way of managing the license for these units? Do each controller need to be physically connected to a License Manager instance or can licenses be distributed by means of a license file for each unit? I believe that the license should be stored in soft containers for each unit. Help and insights appreciated! Per

You get an array of DWORD into your receive buffer. You need to process this into usable data, before you can fit it into your DUT. I've made it work using FbWrite_ToIEC_ByRule in stead of Fb_JSON_ParseAndModify. I've attached images of the code. You receive the data into ARRAY[0..1023] OF DWORD. Then you use that array as the input for fbWrite_ToIEC_ByRule. To get the output from this you define a rule to fit the expected data structure including nesting levels. The you feed the rule into FbWrite_ToIEC_ByRule and then you can set the output to be of your DUT type.

I don't seem to be able to use an axis, which is part of an Axis Group in torque control mode. I call the SMC_SetControllerMode FB to switch from position to torque control mode, followed by the SMC_SetTorque FB to set the desired torque. This works flawlessly for most axes, however if an axis is part of an axis group, switching the controller mode seems to work without any issues, but the desired torque is never set. SMC_SetTorque does not return an error, but fSetTorque of the axis is never changed. Disabling the axis group before does not change anything, but if I use MC_UngroupAllAxes before changing the controller mode, it all works as it should. Is there no way to control a single axis in torque control, if it is part of an axis group?

VarAccGetAddress does not return the correct address for TYPE_ARRAY or TYPE_USERDEF. When you use VarAccGetNode, it returns a proper IBaseTreeNode if you provide the full path of an array element or structure element, and it even provides the correct data type. The problem is that with TYPE_ARRAY, it returns the start address of the array rather than the indexed element. With TYPE_USERDEF, it only returns the offset of the element instead of the actual address. This causes many issues with nested structures or arrays of structures, since it requires manually calculating the address based on the parent IBaseTreeNode. See attached image and example.

and if you copy or transfer a project to another place, copy not only the .project, copy .compileinfo .bootinfo and .bootinfo_guids then we figured out it is more often possible to go online without full download. If you build an archiv and extract it, some of this files are missing and login isn't possible without download. I work with V3.5 SP16 Patch 4. I don't know if this problem of the archiv is solved in newer Versions/SP's and I don't know what the problem of Codesys is to help out a lot of programers of this very annoying problem or at least help with a workaround

Hi Everyone, As we didn't have client for IEC - 104 - only server server is available , so because of that we are trying to make establish the communication between the external simulator as a Client and codesys itself as a server. We are looking for the variable behavior from CODESYS has to change according to the message triggered by the CLIENT (we are using simulator Application like Redisant). We are able to see the log data as the status of triggering the SCS from Client received to the Log data of the codesys device(attached screen shot of it) and in simulator panel we had set the details to trigger the data from Redisant to Codesys. Current Status: The project builds and runs successfully, but I need guidance on how to connect this to an external IEC-104 simulator for testing and visualization by using demo mode.

Hello, We use a controller that comes with a bunch of predefined faults. These faults are considered active and historic. They are a 32 byte array but only take up 26 bytes of data. Because of this the historic faults start at address 26 instead of 31. Active faults variable take up address location 0 to 31. Historic faults variable take up address location 26 to 57. Because of this overlap I get an error that these overlap and it wont allow me to download to my controller. This isn't an issue in 3.5.5.4 but becomes an issue in newer version. Is there a way to turn this off? If I change the address location, the historic faults then become broken without doing some manipulation in the code. The software will build just fine. Hello, I got a bit of a weird issue going on which is kind of annoying. So recently we switched a lot of Modbus IO to EtherCAT, as we were having issues with stability. All works fine, which is great. But sometimes when I change the program I get errors claiming that identifiers are not defined. Meaning I can't go online. See the picture below. I believe this is because some of these identifiers were used with Modbus, and they weren't properly removed/deleted? A clean all temporary fixes the issue, but it comes back again after a while of changing the code, and building. Any way to fix these non-existing required identifiers, or even find out where they are required? Thanks for the help in advance. Jasper.

Trying the web-version of trend-data. This seems to be a impressive tool, but I lack/cant find a number of what I would think are important parts. There does not seem to be a way to get away from the dot.notated variable naming in the legend.. A developer might want the dot-notation but an end-customer will surely not. For instance I want to display 12 temperatures, instead of t1, t2 etc.. they will be named. gvl_io.unit[1].trend.temps.t1_a gvl_io.unit[1].trend.temps.t1_b gvl_io.unit[1].trend.temps.t1_c gvl_io.unit[1].trend.temps.t2_a .. gvl_io.unit[1].trend.temps.t4_b.. gvl_io.unit[1].trend.temps.t4_c.. Quite a lot of unnecessary text/data taking space from the actual trend => Is there a way to access/interface the legend-data programmatically so I can change the presentation/naming?

Hi, under this circumstances the performance of a Raspberry Pi 4 should be sufficient to run a Softmotion robotics application. A closer look at the project would be required. Maybe you could contact the codesys support? Usually it is recommended to run the planning task cyclically every 2ms with task priority of 0 on a dedicated core. In the task configuration you can have a look at the average and maximum execution time of the planning task. You could use the function block SMC_TuneCPKernel (https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/libs/SM3_Robotics/Current/SM3_Robotics/POUs/AdministrativeConfiguration/Computation/SMC_TuneCPKernel.html) to define suitable values for the parameters 'fSyncBufferDuration' and 'fPlanningInterval'. However, as previously mentioned, the performance of a Raspberry Pi 4 with realtime patch should be sufficient. The 'fPlanningInterval' parameter specifies the maximum planning step width in seconds. The cycle time of the planning task should not permanently exceed this value. A higher value reduces the computational effort, but can lead to a violation or no full utilization of the set limit values for velocity, acceleration and jerk. From a starting value of 0.016 seconds, the value should be increased gradually until the performance is acceptable. The parameter 'fSyncBufferDuration' specifies the size (in seconds) of the buffer between the planning and fieldbus task. The cycle time of the planning task must not exceed this value at peak times (this will lead to the error SMC_CP_QUEUE_UNDERRUN). A higher value can compensate for peaks in the cycle time of the planning task. At the same time, however, this also increases the latency for executing interrupts and aborting movements.

Since parameterized (indexed) properties are not possible, I decided to use architectural approach "Indexing Property Adapter" to achieve the intended goal — avoiding code duplication for validated access to array elements. Essence: Create a Function Block Adapter (FB_PropertyAdapter) that encapsulates the logic for working with a single element of the target array (e.g., with one settings structure). Declare Properties inside the adapter block for accessing each individual field of the data structure. All validation logic is implemented within the Set accessors of these properties. Data Binding via VAR_IN_OUT: The adapter block receives a reference to a specific data element from the global array through its VAR_IN_OUT section, which ensures direct work with the original data without copying. Create an Array of Adapters: In the parent POU (e.g., FB_SettingsManager), an array of these adapter blocks is created — one for each element of the global array that needs to be managed. Initialize Bindings: In a FOR loop, each adapter instance from the array is given a reference to the corresponding data element. Result: This approach allows accessing the data via the index of the adapter array, and then through the property name, which simulates the behavior of an indexed property: MyAdapterArray[Index].MyProperty Thus, the validation and data access logic is written only once inside the adapter block and is then reused multiple times by creating instances of it in an array. This completely solves the problem of code duplication while providing a clean, scalable, and object-oriented architecture compatible with standard CODESYS features. Question closed.

Hello all, im working on a project that requires me to convert an old automation direct DirectSoft PLC d2-250-1. One of the problems im encountering is that all of the comments are attached to members of the different addresses. When i convert the addresses (1777 "C" registers, 777 X registers, and 20,0000 V registers) im running into difficulties keeping the inputs/outputs correct since they are missing documentation. Is there a good way to retain the comments of the indexes in the array? Secondly, initially i was declaring the "C" and "V" addresses individually and this worked to retain the comments as to which register did what, however i ran into a problem when one rung reset (or set to 0) approximately 600 C Addresses. Since each tag is separately declared this proved to be nearly impossible without a literal wall of code that attempted to crash the program. So i converted all of the registers (C,X,Y,V) into separate structs, declared them as arrays and pointed all of the original call outs in the program to the newly defined structs. However i have now lost comments and the program is very hard to follow. Thanks for any help with this issue.

This "FB_Init" error has become very annoying lately. It's usually related to webvisu and is resolved by deleting all objects and related libraries. Of course, you need to re-add the deleted objects. Lately, we've generally been managing by not upgrading, but this problem persists in every version since SP20 and should be resolved. I updated a project from SP 19 to SP 21 and found 116 similar errors. I have 2 Wago PFC200 PLC, running with Runtime SP19 Patch 5, with the Redundant application. The PLC communicates as Modbus Master with at this moment 15 Modbus Slaves -later there will be 28 in total- (Drives, Power management units,...). These devices are connected in 2 rings (1 ring of Drives, 1 ring of Power Management units), with 2 Managed Moxa Switches being part of the ring. Each PLC is connected to one of these switches. The issue I'm encountering is that the Cycle time of the Active PLC goes very high when I'm closing the Drive ring (simulating an issue on one Cabinet supply, resulting in that one Drive shut down, which can happen on field quite often). As a result of this long cycle, the PLC fails and goes to Exception, and the Passive PLC does not take control of the system. A normal cycle is around 30ms for the Main task, and a few ms for the Ethercat task. When I monitor with Profiler, I see that in this Maximum Cycle, the main Task is only taking 13ms, so I'm not sure where the PLC is hanging for so long. Is the remaining cycle time the Redundant management/sync or something else? Thank you in advance.

But some devices may have other representation, such as integer + position of the decimal point, for example 123.456 is integer = 123456 and position = 3 Also note, that, ones again, depending on endianess of each system, you may also need to swap not just words, but bytes. SUMMARIZED VERSION OF QUESTION: I'm trying to connect a Raspberry Pi running "Codesys Control for Raspberry Pi" to a Beckhoff EK1100, unfortunately, when I try to connect I get the following messages SEE FIRST PICTURE DETAILED VERSION OF QUESTION: Hi everyone, I'm a college student that is super interested in learning about PLCs. I wanted to dive into the subject and decided to follow this great Instructables article: https://www.instructables.com/Programming-Raspberry-Pi-With-CODESYS/ Thank you in advance for your help! My current setup is as follows: 1. I have Codesys Control for Raspberry Pi, version 4.14.0.0, (https://store.codesys.com/en/codesys-control-for-raspberry-pi-sl.html) installed on a Raspberry Pi 3B. 2. I am using my smartphone hotspot to create a network. 3. I have CODESYS 3.5 SP21 (64 bit) installed on my Windows 11 laptop. 4. Both the Raspberry Pi and my laptop are connected to the smartphone hotspot network (I am wirelessly connecting to the Raspberry Pi). Connecting to the Raspberry Pi from CODESYS on my laptop: 1. I launch Codesys Installer -> I install Codesys Control for Raspberry Pi (link to the software). 2. I launch Codesys 3.5 SP21 (64 bit) on my laptop. 3. I go to file --> new project --> standard project --> in the pop-up I select "Codesys Control for Raspberry Pi" and "Structured Text" 4. I click on tools -> Deploy Control SL (on older versions of Codesys you would click on "update Raspberry Pi", I got that information from this video: link) 5. Inside Deploy Control SL --> I go to the "communication" menu and I input the IP address of my Pi, the password, and click on connect. 6. Inside Deploy Control SL --> I go to the "deployment" menu and I install Codesys Control for Raspberry Pi SL and Codesys Edge Gateway for Linux 7. Now I double click on "device" in the left hand tree and put in the IP address of my Raspberry Pi and click on connect --> success! I am able to connect! SEE SECOND PICTURE Powering the EK1100 and connecting it to the Raspberry Pi: 1. I am supplying the EK1100 with 24 V across the + and - pins. 2. I have jumper wires going from the + pin to the 24V pin and from the - pin to the 0V pin. SEE THIRD PICTURE 4. I am pretty confident that the EK1100 is receiving power because the "LED Us 24 V" and "LED Up 24 V" are lighting up. 5. I then run an ethernet cable from the EK1100 to the Raspberry Pi port (the Raspberry Pi is connected to my laptop wirelessly over WiFi). I think this connection should also be good since the LINK/ACT LED lights up. Trying to connect to the EK1100: 1. Back in Codesys I right-click on "Device" in the left tree and then in the pop up I click on "add device". 2. I then click on EtherCAT Master. 3. Next in a terminal window I SSH into the raspberry Pi and run the "ifconfig" command. 4. From there I get the MAC address for eth0 --> in my case: b8:27:eb:29:a9:25 5. Then, back in Codesys I double click on "EtherCAT Master" in the left hand tree. I then paste the MAC address into the "Source Address (MAC)" field. 6. I go to the Beckhoff official website and download the XML files for EtherCAT: https://www.beckhoff.com/en-en/products/i-o/ethercat-terminals/ek1xxx-bk1xx0-ethercat-coupler/ek1100.html? 7. I unzip those files in my computer into some folder that I can remember. 8. Back in Codesys I click on "Tools" --> "Device Repository" --> "Install" --> and then on the "Beckhoff EK11xx.XML" file. 9. In theory the necessary XML file is now installed. 10. THIS IS WHERE I RUN INTO THE PROBLEM: I then click on login --> I right click on EtherCAT_Master and then scan for devices --> and nothing. 11. It just doesn't detect it. On top of this whenever I login I get those orange triangles on the left on my tree. When I check the Log I get the messages at the very first screenshot of this post. SEE FOURTH PICTURE Solutions that I have tried to resolve this problem: 1. I thought it was maybe the .XML file so I installed all the .XML files from the EtherCAT folder that I downloaded. That didn't fix it. 2. I went on the Wayback Machine and got the .XML files from 2018 as I thought maybe an older version would work. This file of EtherCAT folders had a .XML file named "Beckhoff EKxxxx.XML" I thought this would work because that's the name of the file the guy in the Instructables used (https://www.instructables.com/Programming-Raspberry-Pi-With-CODESYS/). That didn't do anything. 3. I ran the PLC on my computer instead of the Raspberry Pi and tried to connect to the EK1100, in case the issue was with the Raspberry Pi, but I still ran into the same error from the picture above: "Attention! The device was not found in the repository. Vendorcode: 0x0. Productcode: 0x0. Revision: 0x0". SEE FIFTH PICTURE 4. I reinstalled Codesys, I was originally on version 3.5 SP20 when I did this, I upgraded to 3.5 SP21 with no success. 5. I then thought the solution might be to first add the EK1100 hardware before connecting so I did the following: 6. Right click on "EtherCAT Master" on the left hand tree --> then click on "add device" --> then I added the "EK1100 EtherCAT Coupler (2A E-Bus)" MY THEORY OF WHAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM: I asked ChatGPT for help and it said that it might have something to do with the revision number. On the physical EK1100 it says "Rev. Nr.: 0018". I believe that this means that I need to a revision 0018 XML file but if you look in Codesys it says the version is 16 (picture above). This is confusing because I got my .XML file from the official Codesys website so it should be the most up to date version possible. I searched and I searched and I couldn't find a version 18 .XML file, I don't even now if this exists. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated, I don't know what to do anymore and I really really want to get this working. Thank you!

hi! im planning a project on a raspberry with Codesys. For this I'll need a number of relays to control heating and fans, all a max of 24v and about 2a. How would i know if the board / relays i buy will be working with Codesys? Does every hat work or does it need a library/driver? is there a list of drivers/libraries created? as this is a hobby project all tips on a relay board or single boards that works with codesys and not to expensive are very welcome.

Hello everyone, I created a visualization with a lot of REAL, with one or two digits after the decimal point. This causes me problems in terms of rounding and memory... is it possible to display an integer with a comma, like with PROFACE or SIEMENS? It's just an "abuse" of display, the comma is just on the visualization. This limits the memory (16 versus 64 bytes) and rounding is easier to manage... See print screen on proface software THANKS
