What do you think about having an AI Agent specialized in ST programming in Codesys? I see this saving hours and hours of work for those who program on a daily basis.

Post by hammer on Cartesian XY Chart β€” 2-D array binding: "Element to use" enumerates the wrong dimension CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Title: Cartesian XY Chart β€” 2-D array binding: "Element to use" enumerates the wrong dimension; documented example (Dialog: XY Chart Configuration, "Two-dimensional array of base type REAL") appears transposed Product / version: CODESYS Development System V3.5 SP21 Patch 40 (3.5.21.40). Cartesian XY Chart visualization element (System_VisuElemXYChart / VisuElemXYChart). Summary: When a curve's Data X/Data Y is bound to a two-dimensional array, the element treats the last array dimension as the per-point record (the one selected by "Element to use") and iterates the first dimension as the sequence of curve points. The online documentation's worked example has the dimensions in the opposite order, so following it produces a non-functional curve and a nonsensical "Element to use" list. Steps to reproduce (fails β€” matches the documented layout): 1. Declare aData : ARRAY[0..1, 0..4095] OF LREAL; (2 data sets Γ— 4096 points, i.e. first dimension = set, second = point). 2. In XY Chart Configuration, bind a curve's Data X (and Y) Variable to this array. 3. Observe the "Element to use" combobox. Actual result: The "Element to use" combobox lists 4096 entries (the indices of the second dimension) instead of 2 (the data sets in the first dimension). Selecting a row does not produce the expected curve; at most a single/degenerate point is plotted. Steps to reproduce (works β€” transposed): 1. Declare aData : ARRAY[0..4095, 0..1] OF LREAL; (points first, set second). 2. Bind Data X/Y to this array; "Element to use" now correctly lists [0] and [1]. 3. Populate aData[point, set] and the curve plots as expected. Expected result: Either the documented example should select the data set from the first dimension (as its [1]/[2] "Element to use" implies), or the documentation should state that the last dimension is the record dimension (stride) and the first dimension is the point sequence β€” consistent with how the element actually behaves. Analysis: The behavior is self-consistent if the element always walks a single array by a fixed byte stride, reading one element per point β€” the same mechanism as the documented "one-dimensional array of a DUT" case, where it strides by SIZEOF(DUT) and "Element to use" picks the member offset. For a 2-D array the record is the last dimension: to plot column/set c it starts at [0, c] and strides by the last-dimension length to reach [1, c], [2, c], … (row-major layout makes this a contiguous column walk). Under that rule, ARRAY[0..N, 0..1] is correct (record length 2 β†’ "Element to use" [0]/[1]), and the documented ARRAY[1..2, 1..50] with "Element to use" [1]/[2] is transposed. Documentation reference: Dialog: XY Chart Configuration β†’ Data X / Data Y β†’ "Example: Two-dimensional array of the base type REAL" (ARRAY[1..2, 1..50], Element to use [1]/[2], "100 array values are displayed"). This example does not plot as described in 3.5.21.40; transposing to ARRAY[1..50, 1..2] does. Request: Please confirm whether this is (a) a documentation error (example dimensions reversed) or (b) an element defect (combobox enumerates the wrong dimension). Either way, a corrected example plus an explicit statement of which dimension is the point sequence vs. the record/stride dimension would prevent others from hitting this. Two separate 1-D arrays for Data X and Data Y work correctly and are unaffected.

Post by ryandmg on Web Client (HMI) Disconnects from Webvisu (Weidmuller u-OS) CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hey Everyone, I'm having a bit of a struggle finding settings that will reliably maintain a connection between the webvisu and a touchscreen client. Every so often the HMI disconnects and will perpetually display the red spinning arrow with the "Error Happened, Will resume automatically" text. Power cycling the HMI to force a reconnect will re-establish comms. It seems to happen during periods of inactivity if that's a clue. From what I've gathered so far this seems to have something to do with the webvisu update rate, buffer size as well as the visu task scan rate. We first tried the default settings as follows: Webvisu Update Rate: 200 ms Webvisu Buffer Size: 50,000 Visu Task Scan Rate: 100 ms Priority 31 Other Tasks for Reference: Main Task Scan Rate: 100 ms Priority 1 Alarm Manager Scan Rate: 50 ms Priority 31 Ethercat Task: 4 ms Priority 1 This would disconnect some what regularly. We then made the following changes to try and stabilize: Webvisu Update Rate: 150 ms Webvisu Buffer Size: 75,000 Visu Task Scan Rate: 75 ms Kept other tasks the same. This seems to disconnect even more frequently. Also for reference the network is very small and only consists of the PLC, a small switch and the HMI. We're also not controlling frames from outside the visu program itself. The frame changes are all done natively. Any suggestions to get this to stop disconnecting? Oh and whatever the issue is the log does not record it. Figured I would ask here before opening a ticket. Thanks in advance for your help!

Compared to the Codesys 3.5 SP19 Patch 1 version, the context menu on a Trace object no longer works. So I can no longer run the Downloader Trace command. Do any options need to be enabled with the new version? Best regards Roberto Caponi

Post by narius on OPC-UA object instances preexisting in imported xml information model CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi all, is it possible to use object instances that are not instantiated by codesys itself, e.g. have been defined in UA-Modeler ? When I browse the plc with UA-Expert I see those instances, but I have not seen information in codesys or the web if these are writable in codesys. So far, I am under the impression, that it is not possible, but would like to hear from others. Also, is it correct, that it is not possible to create references inside codesys ? Thanks in advance and kr

Post by spilin on All devices lost for all installed version CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
hello. After installing the latest version of codesys (3.5.20) from codesys installer, I had a problem. All my devices disappeared. Both PLCs and IO modules and network devices disappeared from my list. I browsed through the Windows files and I can find them in the programdata/codesys/devices folder. The files remain there, but they are not available within codesys (same error in all installed versions) which in this case are 3.5.16 and 3.5.19. Does anyone know how I can reimport or resynchronize my devices folder again? Thanks

Post by smartcoco on Request a dark mode for CODESYS CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
CODESYS IDE is not a modern IDE. Its interface is ugly, its operation is not user-friendly, its functions are lacking, its feedback is slow, and its development is not good enough. In fact, CODESYS is a helpless choice under the current situation. But this situation will not last long. For example, SIMATIC AX is a strong competitor of CODESYS, which is more open and inclusive.

Post by timvh on Codesys Runtime Devie Password CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
This has been moved because of security reasons. But it depends on how you start CODESYS where the project files are located (at least for Control Win from SP20). 1) If you start it through the sys tray icon, you start it as a service and the files will be located in: C:\Windows*System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Roaming\CODESYS... (or C:\Windows*SysWOW64**\config...) 2) If you start it as a user, e.g. with a shortcut to the runtime, you can find it in: C:\Users\<your user="" name="">\AppData\Roaming\CODESYS...</your>

Post by alex2 on How to uninstall SVN module CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello, At work, I use Codesys V3.5 SP10. I wanted to run some tests with the SVN module, which I kept installed (without actually using it in the end). However, when I tried to launch Codesys today, I was informed that a license was missing. I suspect that this is due to the SVN module. Could you tell me how to uninstall it without launching Codesys? (as i cant proprerly start Codesys without the license) Thank you in advance.

Post by monw on Unable to Re-Import Native XML Exported Using CODESYS Script API CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
When exporting a Logical Device or Logical Exchange GVL using the native XML export functionality of the CODESYS Script API, I encounter the following error upon re-import: "Error in IEnumeratorOfTWrapper. Current. Could not cast: System.String in System.Char" I am using CODESYS V3.5 SP21 Patch 2. Is there a known solution or workaround for this issue? Notably, importing the same XML file through the CODESYS Engineering IDE's menu import works without error.

Post by timvh on How to correctly create a device descriptor (.devdesc.xml) for a custom Linux ARM64 PLC in CODESYS 3.5.21.20? CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
If you are a vendor of controllers and want to have your own CODESYS Runtime on your device, then you need to contact the CODESYS Sales team and ask for the runtime Toolkit. For resellers of CODESYS devices, this can be interesting. If it is only for a few devices, then why not just take the standard runtime?

Post by hismoon on CodeSys SVN funktionert nicht CODESYS Forge talk (Post)

Post by timvh on History of Alarms CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
It is most likely related to the existing alarm log files in the Control Win. Depending on how you start up the Control Win, you can find the files in: C:\Users\<user name="">\AppData\Roaming\CODESYS\CODESYSControlWinV3x64\<unique id="">\PlcLogic\alarms\ Or C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Roaming\CODESYS\CODESYSControlWinV3x64\<unique id="">\PlcLogic\alarms\</unique></unique></user> Delete the files in this folder, download your project again and start the application. PS, if you have an older version of CODESYS, the files are in: C:\ProgramData\CODESYS\CODESYSControlWinV3x64\<unique id="">\PlcLogic\alarms</unique>

Post by sigurdrb on send appliaction files to wago plc (codesys 3.5) via ssh CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi, I was hoping I could send the two files "application.app" and "application.crc" directly to the directory "/home/codesys/PlcLogic/Application" instead of logging into the device with codesys, downloading the program to the controller and then do the "create boot application", so it will reboot with the correct program running. I think i also need to edit the file "eRUNTIME.cfg" located in the "/home/codesys/ folder, because when I create the boot application from the codesys IDE, these lines are added to the file: [CmpApp] Application.1 = Application [SysFileMap] /home/codesys/PlcLogic/Application/Application.app=0x212520, 0x2DBC747E, 2DBC747E.app I think the "eRUNTIME.cfg" file is the same as CODESYSControl.cfg I also dont know the purpose of the hexadecimal numbers etc. that is generated. When I tried to replicate what codesys was doing, I placed the same files in the same folder as when codesys generated the boot file. And also added the lines in the eRUNTIME.cfg file: [CmpApp] Application.1 = Application [SysFileMap] /home/codesys/PlcLogic/Application/Application.app The controller did not boot up with any program, so my method did not work at all. I guess these lines tells the controller to run an application and where to find it? Could any of you help me with the best way to get the compiled program to the controller without using codesys or wago-software?

Post by jinlee on Symbol Configuration CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi guys, I am working on an old project which using Codesys v2.3 talks to Beijer's screen TA150 (IX-Developer 2.20). Codesys v2.3 is different with 3.5 and Ecockpit. I know how to import the symbols from PLC to HMI for Codesys 3.5 and Ecockpit. However, I do not know how to do it on Codesys v2.3. I know that I can make excel sheet to import and export from the HMI and add whatever I want based on PLC. However, is there any quicker way of doing this? So that I can directly import the symbols (tags) from PLC (Codesys 2.3 to HMI).
