I have a project called 'DemoProject' and a library called 'DemoLib'. Create a visual control named "DemoVisu" in the library, with a selection box of type "ComboBoxInteger" in the space. Now 'ComboBoxInteger' requires a 'Text list'. This "Text list" is provided when I call the "DemoVisu" control of the "DemoLib" library in "DemoProject". And this text list is in 'DemoProject'. I found that 'ComboBoxInteger' no longer works at this time. Other visual controls that use text lists also have this issue. I hope there is a good solution to this problem.

I am relatively new to Codesys and I'm trying to develop an HMI that displays what mode a particular device is in based on an integer value. I am currently using dynamic texts with a text list which works fine but I am looking for a way to display a particular string (ie 'Unknown') when the index doesn't match any of of the indices in the text list. I can enter 'Unknown' in the text property of the text field element which works as expected but it displays the single quotes on the visualization. How can I escape these quotes to simply display the word Unknown? Thanks!

Good day, I’m writing this message out of frustration regarding the current way project files are saved as encrypted XML and single-file format in CODESYS. I find this approach to be quite tedious for several reasons: Limited Access to Structured Text: Not being able to access Structured Text (ST) externally makes it impossible to work with alternative editors like VSCode. Tools like VSCode are incredibly responsive and feature advanced systems such as GitHub Copilot, which would be a real game-changer when working with ST IEC. While CODESYS works well for small code snippets or debugging, when the codebase grows, switching to VSCode to boost productivity becomes essential, and copy-pasting between environments is a cumbersome workaround. Poor Integration with Git: This file format also makes it very difficult to integrate effectively with Git. I have tested the internal demo, but for advanced merges, it is unusable. Without properly formatted plain text, it’s impossible to leverage the vast ecosystem of external tools around Git that allow smooth merges in heterogeneous teams. File Corruption on Network Drives: I often work from multiple locations with shared network drives. When the development environment saves a file and something goes wrong midway (which can occasionally happen when using VPNs and network drives), the entire project becomes irrecoverable. There’s no way to cancel the save process, and the development environment freezes. This has happened to me at least four times over the past two weeks, and one of those incidents cost me an entire day of work. All of this is particularly disappointing because I truly believe that the libraries, runtime, and overall work done by CODESYS are exceptional. I find it fantastic that there is a platform allowing development of PLCs and control systems using OOP, which is a huge advantage in modern control engineering. I apologize for the rant, but this issue has been extremely frustrating. Best regards.

Hi, one more point. I have been able to create Property of Text which is added to Global text list so it´s fine. But as soon as I use Frame configuration I lose all other properties but some very basics. I need to have still possibility to set Input configuration because my element is Button. Do you know how to make visible all standard properties + my own properties created in Frame configuration? Thanks a lot. M.

I'm looking to automatically select a text field element in my visualization. I'm not sure if this is possible, as I don't know how to get the data on specific elements. I am wanting automatic selection of the text field, as I am using a keyboard-input barcode scanner, which should always input the barcode into the text field whenever a barcode is scanned. Does anyone know if this can be done?

Hi, I haven´t noticed you put the comment here. I thing it´s a bit different. What I want is to have detail errors of technology in data type e.g. INT. This variable I would latch to the corresponding error msg but I would like to get it convert to text from the text list and not keep it in INT form. Example. Main error Valve Error: SubErrors 1 - Both sensors 2 - Not retracted in time 3 - Not pulled out in time In HMI Main error + latch SubErrors => "Valve Error: Both sensors" The benefit is that text lists are part of translation and can be easily manipulated. I know I can create whole string msg in PLC but then, it lose advantage of Alarm management. Thanks. M.

Does anybody know how to get a specific text from a text list within a program. Obviously it works in a visualization, but because I will have an HMI that has it's own system and I will have to send variables to this HMI via an OPC UA connection, I need to be able to get a text into a string. I tried using the VisuElems like this, but it only returns an empty "" and nothing else. Hello, I hv a problem. Couldn't solve this for 2 days now. So I'm quite new at CodeSys and I have to use the spi port x30 on the edgelogix rpi 1000. So what I have to do is just 'add device' at the SPI where I hv to pick the 'SPI master' after that I hv to change the parameters according to the edgelogix I did found in the spidev.h but nothing got updated so I 'add device' again where I pick the PiFace I/O Driver and I put my variables at the I/O Mapping, which i put the input startbit at the in part and led at the out part. I want to make the led blink according to my structured text code but somehow the hardware didn't connected with the CodeSys spi port. Nothing happens. Any idea what I have to do?

Objective: I want to dynamically update the content with strings and JPEG images received from a TCP/IP socket. For this purpose, I am exploring the possibility of utilizing the Web Browser feature of the Visualization toolbox. Example: In a standard web browser, entering data:text/plain;charset=utf-8;base64,SGVsbG8gc3RyYW5nZXI= in the URL window will display "Hello stranger" on the webpage. Issue: When attempting to use this method in the Web Browser of the Visualization toolbox, the content does not display as expected. Instead, it shows the error:'Navigation to the webpage was canceled.'. Request: I seek guidance on how to resolve this issue so that the Web Browser in the Visualization toolbox correctly interprets and displays the data URI content. Alternative Solution Welcomed: Or, if it is possible to directly use Codesys Structured Text (ST) variables within an HTML page, this approach would also meet my requirements. Here https://github.com/k-s-saki/RPi_CODESYS_CNC My CNC Project is binary file , using FBD for IPO , so I found it is a little bit hard to work with people on GitHub. (diff / merge ) My question is 1) Is it possible to convert my project ( only POUs is also fine ) into text file ? How? 2) Would it be better to rewrite all FBD/LD into ST and copy them manually to text files? Thanks.

Hi all, in Alarm management you can latch some variable to show value within the alarm msg. It´s very useful sometime. But I´m wondering whether there is any possibility to represent that value as Text list. It´s quite common in other HMI tools and this is very useful in case of using some ErrorID for detail specification of error. Unfortunately I could not find any way how to do it but I believe that exists :) Thanks a lot. M.

What I have realized that if I use for Label/Caption etc. string variable (%s) it is not included in translation list. This is a quite a big deal and I did not find way how to add text to the list manually. Would you give me a hint how to proceed? I hope there is a way (workaround) how to do it. Thanks a lot. M.

I found a way to do it: You can use, for example, the text variable property of any visualization element and call a function in it. Example: Write a test POU as a function (FUN), like MyTestFun which need a boolean Variable as an input value. Now write into the text variable property: MyTestFun(bBooleanValue) Thats it. The function is called at each visu_task cycle.

Hello, if you enter %t as a "Text" on a rectangle and do not link a variable in "Text variable", it automatically displays the system time. My question is, where do if find a variable, that contains exactly this time? I tried numerous variants using GetLocalDateTime or GetSysTime but I always have to manage timezones myself (which I do not want to do). I only want a variable with the date an time from my windows system, where the visualization is running. Where can I find this variable?

Hallo, ich habe https://store.codesys.com/de/codesys-in-building-automation-examples.html runtergeladen und mit dem Installer und Adminrechten installiert. Jedoch finde ich auf C: keine *.project* Dateien. Kann mir jemand erklären wie ich an die Examples dran komme? Auch von Wago habe ich Packages bekommen in denen Beispiele enthalten sind. Auch hier finde ich nix. (Googel habe ich gefragt. Aber mit den Stichworten kommen viele Treffer die alle nicht hilfreich waren.) In der Hilfe von Codesys habe ich natürlich auch gesucht, aber auch hier nichts erklärendes gefunden. Angeblich findet sich was in C:\Programme\CODESYS 3.5.19.40\CODESYS\Projects oder auch unter C:\Users\BENUZTERNAME\CODESYS Examples Aber wie geschrieben finde ich auf C:\ nix was ein Beispiel wäre. Wäre echt super wenn mir jemand einen Hinweis geben könnte. Danke im Vorraus, Martin

Hallo, mal wieder war der Fehler vor dem Computer, bzw. waren es die Programmierer. Die Dateien sind tatsächlich im Ordner C:\Users\BENUZTERNAME\CODESYS Examples Aber nicht in dem der vor dem Computer sitzt, sondern im Administrator-Verzeichnis. Eine mächtig dämliche Sache. Und das alles ohne Hinweise in irgendwelchen Anleitungen oder Meldungsfenster beim installieren. Bei meiner suche mit *.project habe ich natürlich keine Adminrechte, deswegen wurde mir nichts angezeigt. Danke an alle die meine Beiträge gelesen haben. Danke an alle die darüber nachgedacht haben :-) Vielleicht hilft mein Thread mal jemandem. Gruß Martin PS: Mache Firmen nennen die Beispieldateien nicht Examples sondern Samples.
