I think you should use a piece of hardware in between your drive (pulse/direction) and the plc like for example Beckhoff EL2521 - so Ethercat might be to choice if you need CNC and SoftMotion. EK1100 and EL2521

Hello, I am new to Codesys and PLC programming in general (please go easy ha!) I'm not looking for code to be written for me just some help and pointing in the right direction. I am writing some code to send commands to a relay based on input values (to put it simply). Quite basic stuff. I have wrote a function block that takes a global variable (Open_command:BOOL) and outputs to another global variable (Opened : BOOL). The function block is simulating a device so I'll eventually get the globals from that. I now need to create multiple versions of this function block/ device (lets say 100) but I need each iteration of that function block to reference it's own relevant global variable. I think that the best way of doing this would be to use arrays, although I could be wrong. I am aware that for up to 100 instances I could very well manually assign everything but that seems rather time consuming and I want a fancier way of doing it. Here is a very basic example of what I am looking to do, please note I have not written this in proper code it's just to show what I mean. Global Variables V[0-100] int Open_command [0-100] Bool Opened [0-100] Bool Function Block var input x : BOOL Var output y : BOOL if x then y = TRUE ELSE y = FALSE The input to my function block will be Open_command, output will be Opened Example code. If V[x] > 10 then Open_command [x] = TRUE ELSE Open_command [x] = FALSE (So when V1 goes above 10 I need Open_command1 = TRUE therefore initiating FB1 output. V2 > 10, open_command2 = True > FB2 output V3 > 10, open_command3 = True > FB3 output ... ... ) What I can't seem to figure out is how to tie all this together, I have read through the codesys documentation and if anything it has confused me more! ha. Good morning, I'm new on Codesys Forge, so I'm not sure if this is the right place to talk about my problem. When I open my WebVisu pages with Microsoft Edge, or Chrome, the background and also some rectangles blinking without reason!!! The application is developed with Codesys 3.5.17.10 and run on Codesys HMI, same version (3.5.17.10). After several experiments I discover that the problem happens when I made dynamic the "End of area" property of a meter object, but I can't understand why this blinking problem happens. Also, the problem is only at the WebVisu page, the "normal" VISU pages (the ones opened when Codesys HMI start) work always perfectly. Another strange thing is that the problem happens only if on the same page, where there is the meter object, there is also a trend object!?!? Codesys HMI is running on a Virtual Machine (VMware Workstation 15 player, v.15.5.6) running Windows 10 Pro N 64-bit. The blinking problem happen also if I convert the project to Codesys 3.5.20.0. This version of Codesys and Codesys HMI are installed on a Virtual Machine running Windows Server 2019 Standard 64-bit. In attachment the archive of my project. The attached project has only one page, if "Enable Counter" is not pressed the "End of area" variable of the meter is not updated in the software, and everything work well, normal VISU and WebVisu; if "Enable Counter" is pressed, the "End of area" variable of the meter is updated in the software, and the WebVisu page start blinking. I tried also to enable the "Support client animations and overlay..." property at VisualizationManager, this seems stop the blinking problem, but that property also destroy my WebPage, moving almost all the graphical object, that also seem not working anymore. I really need help to understand what I'm doing wrong, I have to develop a bigger project and I have to understand if trend objects and animated meters cannot stay in the same page. In the final project the WebVisu will be very important because the customer will use this way to access the application to monitor the process. Regards

Um eine C-Library als Codesys Bibliotheksfunktion zu erstellen, bin ich den fünf Videoanleitungen von https://de.codesys.com/news-events/gut-zu-wissen.html gefolgt. Das funktioniert auch am Anfang gut, ich kann unter x86-Linux und RasPi-Linux auch die C-Libraries kompilieren. Wenn ich dann die Library aber wie in Video 4 gezeigt in der Codesys-Bibliothek verknüpfen möchte, (siehe Screenshot) bekomme ich schon bei Auswahl der Datei und auch danach bei Klick auf "Geräte auswählen" den Fehler "Der Dateiname sollte mit dem Bibliotheksnamensraum enden." angezeigt. Meine *.so Datei endet aber meinem Verständnis nach mit dem richtigen Namen analog zum Beispiel und wie es auch in meinem Projekt heißt. Mir ist unklar, was mir diese Fehlermeldung anderes sagen will. Hat jemand eine Erklärung? (Codesys V3.5 SP 20 + (64-bit))

Hi, I had some issues as well migrating to the new version. What I have learnt: - Have to check all the libraries in the library manager, if they are the proper versions. - Some other parts of the application, maybe an old library referenced by another one can keep the old Ethercat libraries.... Use the "Placeholders" function on the library manager - See if there is a new version available of the slave "devices". Might just have to update them ... I had problems moving from 4.7 to with 4.8, especially with the 2nd adapter for redundancy - some devices failed to initialize properly.... So I have just downgraded those libraries now. P.

I can't recall how I solved it and whether it was a problem with my codesys installation or the project itself. If it is the codesys installation, make sure all your required libraries and plugins are installed and available. compare with a colleagues installation if possible. I vaguely recall saving a copy of my project and deleting things one by one until the error went away...

It is being worked on by many companies and its even-driven function blocks seem like a natural evolution of the object oriented industrial programming I have seen Gary Pratt (author of the Book of CODESYS and much more) so expertly implement and explain. I would expect CODESYS to have this front and center on their sights and, if they do not, I would be very interested in learning why.

Hi, I have the user situation represented in the image and I would like CustomerAdmin to only be able to modify/add/delete users relating to the CustomerUser group and nothing else. How can I do? It would be enough not to display the users belonging to the SuperAdmin, Technician1 and Technician2 groups and also the related groups in the UserMgmtConfig dialog box. Can anyone help me? Good morning. I'm working with a Weidmuller controller using Codesys. My project use OPC-UA to communicate an application in my pc with the controller. Yesterday, I installed the license of the controller and test it, and the communication works perfect. I use the communication with anonymous login, and works fine. But, hours later, the anonymous login don't work, and the controller only allows connection via OPC with username and password. Someone know why this happend? Thanks

Hello, I’m encountering the same issue. I only receive these errors when downloading to the PLC—there are no errors during the build—after upgrading to CODESYS 3.5.21.10. Hi CoDeSys support forum, hope that this is the correct place to ask this. Might be double as i am new to Codesys and dont know all terminology. I am trying to test Codesys with a virtual plc on a raspberry pi 5. Already figured that i need Tools -> Deploy Control SL, enter Communication parameters. Codesys says "Connected". Then tab "Deployment", there i select "CODESYS Control for Raspberri Pi SL" and "4.16.0.0 (all)". Click "Install" and the gui turns grey and unresponsive. The titlebar says "Untitled1.project - CODESYS (Not Responding)" as well. Restarting Codesys and checking shows no package was installed. How to deploy the runtime? Thank you in advance for your time. Edit: After some patience, an error showed up: "Error when sending ssh heartbeat: Session operation has timed out" "Error installing codesyscontrol" Any pointers to what remote command might have failed, or log of some sort, would be welcome. Hi, under this circumstances the performance of a Raspberry Pi 4 should be sufficient to run a Softmotion robotics application. A closer look at the project would be required. Maybe you could contact the codesys support? Usually it is recommended to run the planning task cyclically every 2ms with task priority of 0 on a dedicated core. In the task configuration you can have a look at the average and maximum execution time of the planning task. You could use the function block SMC_TuneCPKernel (https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/libs/SM3_Robotics/Current/SM3_Robotics/POUs/AdministrativeConfiguration/Computation/SMC_TuneCPKernel.html) to define suitable values for the parameters 'fSyncBufferDuration' and 'fPlanningInterval'. However, as previously mentioned, the performance of a Raspberry Pi 4 with realtime patch should be sufficient. The 'fPlanningInterval' parameter specifies the maximum planning step width in seconds. The cycle time of the planning task should not permanently exceed this value. A higher value reduces the computational effort, but can lead to a violation or no full utilization of the set limit values for velocity, acceleration and jerk. From a starting value of 0.016 seconds, the value should be increased gradually until the performance is acceptable. The parameter 'fSyncBufferDuration' specifies the size (in seconds) of the buffer between the planning and fieldbus task. The cycle time of the planning task must not exceed this value at peak times (this will lead to the error SMC_CP_QUEUE_UNDERRUN). A higher value can compensate for peaks in the cycle time of the planning task. At the same time, however, this also increases the latency for executing interrupts and aborting movements.

Hi @TimvH, As discussed in our email contact, your example does not actually test/reproduce the bug I am describing: Adding to the JSON builder on later cycles works fine. Your example works because you do the following: 1. You finish the first cycle (xFirst) with adding an object to the array with 2 fields; 2. When the next cycle is triggered (xAdd), you immediately start with adding another object to that array. This works fine as the last thing you did before #2 was the addition of the array and an object to it. To reproduce the bug you should be doing the following instead, as I showed with the code I shared with my first post: 1. Create the array - save the index that is returned; 2. Add an item, either a primitive or an object, to the array; 3. Add an item outside the array (anything: a primitive, a new array, a nested object, etc); 4. Add another item to the array using the index you saved at #1. You will now see, as I shared in my initial post, that the second item is placed completely outside the root JSON object. This also happens to anything else you try to add after step #4: everything after this point will be added outside the root JSON object: the JSON is completely broken. Important to note is that this not only happens with arrays, but also with nested JSON objects. Once you add something outside of a nested JSON object, you can no longer add anything to that nested JSON object, as that causes the exact same bug. This also applies to arrays of objects, so if in your test you had tried adding a new key-value pair to the first nested object in your array after you created the second nested object, you would also run into this bug. It seems that the JSONByteArrayWriter (I haven't tested the other writers in the JSON Utilities SL library, so I don't know if they suffer from the same problem) simply does not handle any JSON fields that add brackets (so arrays with "[" & "]" and nested objects with "{" & "}") well, and closes them prematurely instead of checking if any later JSONElements in the JSONData's array belong to any of these bracketed fields. After reviewing the objects & functions of the JSON Utilities SL library, my guess is that either the JSONByteArrayWriter linearly goes through the array of JSONElements in the JSONData and only checks the diParentIndex of each JSONElement in direct ascending order, OR if it does use the JSONElement.GetChildren(); method, that this method is either broken and doesn't give all children correctly to the writer. Neither explains why everything completely breaks, and you cannot even add to the root JSON object anymore, however, so there is probably more than just that going wrong in the writer. To me, after a full week of testing and attempting workarounds, this seems like a bug in the library that needs to be fixed by Codesys, as I cannot see anything wrong in the JSONData constructed by the JSONBuilder - this seems purely a problem in the writer.

This is my first time posting in this forum and I am new to codesys. I am a fullstack developer and I am trying to figure out how the following. What would be the best approach to create a own/custom tag browser? Either directly in codesys ide or using a separate custom program (perhaps a winforms application). 1.a. Shall I parse the .project xml file to get a list of all tags in the project? 1b. Shall I use python scripting in codesys ide to get a list of tags? Once one have selected some tags. These tags shall be exposed to a python program which will be acting as a edge computer. It’s fine to be able to import a file. 2a. I found a library called codesys plchandler which (as I understand) acts a rest api server. Is this correct? If so, can I query the api from a custom python script, ie can query what tags exist in project and or read tag values? My research so far. From earlier projects I know that using opc ua would be perfect for this but from my opinion it’s bloating the plc since it’s resource intensive. So opc ua is not an option. Codesys automation server is neat. But I don’t want to rely on some cloud services and subscription based pricing. There seem to be several interesting codesys libraries like mqtt, tcp server and NVL sender which would help me expose plc tags. But all have a common problem. One have to manually write what tags which will be used in these function blocks. I want a similar experience like “selecting” tags in the opc ua or the codesys tracing, ie a tag browser.

Hello, i am trying to read multiple lines from csv file with caa file library and oscat. I have wrote 7 lines in the csv with separation '$R$L'. In my "extracting values" part I check line feeds and chars. After that I convert my buffer to string with oscat but I'm only able to read the first line from the csv. No matter if I even change start position where I start converting the buffer, I only get the first line.
