I included the stub files of scriptengine (codesys python api) in a directory scriptengine of a project. I tried to include librarymanager like that: from scriptengine import librarymanager visual studio code detected an error. It said librarmanager could not be found. Indeed in the stub file, this was library_manager. But if I change it in my code, the plugin doesn t work anymore. I found an easy solution to this problem. I ve just changed the copied stub files.(library_manager -> librarymanager) But I think it would be better if you update it yourself in the future.

I have noticed that a rm file1.txt command on a shell has an impact on the cycle time for a TASK writing to file2.txt. Seen in the Monitor fane of the Task configuration Furthermore if a TASK makes a system call like rm, its cycle time increases of course but it seems to have an invisible impact on other TASKs too. I have a TASK for handling communication over the CANbus (SPI) where it stops sending "Heartbeats" for many seconds when another TASK does a system rm. Why is that not seen on the Monitor fane? Is even codesyscontrol paused when system calls are made? The CPU load is about 30-40%

If you are not using any specific Raspberry Pi functionality, then probably the "universal" Control Linux ARM SL is the approriate runtime to run on the Pi. For the license it doesn't matter which runtime version you choose, because this is not hardware based anymore, but application based. Best is to use the latest version of CODESYS. To determine which license you need, double click on your device, go to the tab License metrics.... Generate the code for your application and see which license you need based on the metrics of your application.

If you have a Windows system (RTE), then why not run the CODESYS HMI as separate controller. This could easily be moved to another PC if required. In the HMI you could also still use the Symbolic Var access as part of the Data Source Manager, although maybe OPC is the preferred way to make it more future proof. Or what about the Remote Target Visu. Then you can reduce the load of the main controller, while still only having to create one application including Visualization. This is now also supported for Linux systems. Hello, I have experienced the same issue as described above but for the Modbus Serial configurator. Looking for a solution. In v3.5 SP19 Patch 7 the Modbus Serial Master Slave configurator has a "virtual" limit of 10 channels. In v3.5 SP18 Patch 5 this virtual limit does not exist. I can successfully copy back and forth from 18 to 19 with out any build error. However, this is not a good solution for our customers. What is even more confusing is that the IoDrvModbus library is the same version (4.3.0.0) for both SP18 and SP19. Please help in providing a fix to the virtual channel limit of 10 in SP19. Thanks,

Codesys Windows (Main window as well as pop-ups) often appear outside of the viewable are in Windows when using multiple Monitors. This is exacerbated (happens more very often), when working on a notebook with different Monitor setups at different locations (which kind of is standard nowadays). The windows (not even the main Window) can not be recovered using standard short cuts like WIN + Arrow keys, alt + tab etc. The only way we found to recover the windows is by changing the Monitor positions in thew Windows Display Settings and than changing them back EVERY TIME a pop us is displayed. This makes using Codesys close to unbearable. All my colleagues face the same problem and do not have this problem with any other IDE. Please help.

I have a project where a single PLC shall control multiple nodes (up to 10 units?) with IO connected through profinet. Ideally each node should be identical however with time I see situations were different setups/configurations will be used. Codesys PLC (GVLs) |Profinet | |--PNIO-node-1--| | | AIO, | | DIO, | | CNT etc. | |--PNIO-node-2--| | | AIO, | | DIO, | | CNT etc. Ideally I think of a configuration through yaml/xml-files (the assignment/linking of the profinet nodes towards GVL-variables in the PLC as well as scaling, channel configration etc.). Would be grateful if someone could suggest library/-ies that can handle the following: - Verify what IO is connected to a device/node. - Hot-swap/assign link for IO towards GVLs, either automatically or through a HMI.

Hi, I had some issues as well migrating to the new version. What I have learnt: - Have to check all the libraries in the library manager, if they are the proper versions. - Some other parts of the application, maybe an old library referenced by another one can keep the old Ethercat libraries.... Use the "Placeholders" function on the library manager - See if there is a new version available of the slave "devices". Might just have to update them ... I had problems moving from 4.7 to with 4.8, especially with the 2nd adapter for redundancy - some devices failed to initialize properly.... So I have just downgraded those libraries now. P.

Hello, I would like to know if there is a PROFIdrive layer in CODESYS. I am already familliar with Codesys's SoftMotion on CANOpen/EtherCAT (to control PLC Open FBs), and I need the same kind of stuff for PROFINET-IO devices; In my configuration, I have a CIFX board from Hischer to enable IRT, the SoftPLC "Codesys Control RTE V3 x64", and a servo-drive from INFRANOR that implements PROFINET / PROFIdrive (with IRT) protocol. Hi, I tried some different libraries (CmpApp etc.) to find some global variables that I could read out as a variable in the codesys environment. Do any one of you know which libraries are best suited for this, and how I can read it out? My goal is to send messages, warnings etc. to the system that communicates to the PLC. Currently if something goes wrong I need to see the logfiles, or go online with the controller. I think I could save a lot of time if I could read the errors from our user interface that is connected to the PLC by TCP/IP.

I have a WAGO PLC, to which I am establishing a connection. Here I use the autodiscover to register the connected modules. Now, I have tested the in-/outputs of the different modules, to verify they are consistent with how they are physically connected to the PLC in regards to how CODESYS has numbered them. Will CODESYS always number the modules closest to the PLC itself lowest, and the one furthest away, the highest? I am rather new to the program, so I both hope my question makes sense, as well as not being completely obvious. Thanks!

Hi all I found that in the last Ethercat master release (4.8.0.0) the Mailbox Gateway feature has been added. This would be useful for me to connect to a specific slave in my system, since its configuration software supports this type of gateway communication. Anyway I don't find usage information or examples. At the moment I tried to enable it in the ethercat master device settings and I configured with an IP address on the subnet of the ethercat adapter (i.e. ethercat nic configured with static ip 192.168.10.100 subnet 255.255.255.0, mailbox gateway configured to 192.168.10.30). I expected it would have responded to ping commands on the address but nothing happens. I am missing something?

Hi @tk096, Thank you for your response. Here is example project file and some screenshot for your analysis regarding this matter. In order to reproduce the problem on your side and make it independent of the hardware, I simulated the encoder counter incrementally for the master in this example. I configured a virtual axis as the slave motion axis. The problem occurs in the same way in the real hardware configuration (servo drive connected to Ethercat and hardware incremental encoder) in MC_CamIn. I hope this example helps you see the problem on your side and understand and find the source of the problem with FreeEncoderAxis for Softmotion 4.17.0.0. Best Regards, Imdat

I am trying to add a Softmotion license to my Weintek HMI. The HMI is already licensed for Codesys and I have already purchased a Softmotion license as well. When using the License Manager I get an error saying the licensing info is not available. I am fairly new to working with Codesys so I am at a bit of a loss and there seems very little information online about troubleshooting this specific issue. I have attached the error message below. If there are any ideas of how to troubleshoot this better I would be happy to hear them.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I can't seem to locate a thread that leads me answers. I am running two RTE x64 softPLCs, one on the host machine and a second via a VM. I have managed to finally get both to a position that they see each other, but they are in standalone mode instead of an active/passive state for failover (image attached). Every attempt to sync via the button fails. There is probably some step or option that I have missed in my bumbling through this learning process, but for the life of me I can't seem to figure it out. Anyone got any suggestions what I need to look at to get this into an active/passive redundancy state?

Hello, I am using Codesys on an industrial pc with a single monitor. I would also like to have a separate vision software running on the PC and would like to display it half screen. When I run the soft PLC the my visualization screen appears full screen, I would like to be able to set the size of the visualization screen so I can display other software on the monitor. Is it possible to set the width/height of the targetVisu? Anyone try something similar? I would like to avoid having to put it on a Virtual Machine. Thank you

Apparently my construction will not work as any of the sub-types are not be able to accept any (further) value-initiation. Ie: string_item : log_data_base := (string_value := 'test', val_type := STRING_); is not eq to (the string_value will not be assigned): string_item_2 : log_data_string := (string_value := 'test'); Because effectively for the compiler this is eq. to a "double" assignment where the compiler sees only the first assignment (my guess). string_item_2 : log_data_base := (val_type := STRING_) := (string_value := 'test'); Im not sure this should be treated as a bug, but it would surely be nice to be able to use this construction (compiler is 3.5.20.40). Anyone see any other alternative for solution (other than 4 complete STRUCTS with all fields individually defined)?

If you mean you want to shift the Origin or Zero position of your axis, you can try MC_SetPosition and set the position to 0 (if you want to take the current active position and make it the new 0. Adjust this number accordingly if/as needed). This means the servo drive keeps it's current origin position, and Codesys applies an offset to the servo drive position in the logic. You can also use the homing function of your servo drive using MC_Home and have your drive configured to set the current position as origin when it receives a homing command.

We use several control units running on Raspberry Pi, programmed using Codesys software, with multiple licenses stored as soft containers. We are planning to update the SD card image of the Raspberry Pi to a newer OS version. However, we are concerned that this process might result in the loss of our soft container licenses. Is there a way to temporarily deactivate the license so that it can be reactivated on the updated system? Alternatively, what would be the best method to preserve the licenses during the update? I'm trying to export my whole project through the option ExportPLCopenXML. It seems working, but when I'm trying to import the xml I have the following error during the importation process: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. It seems a usual issue with this process that affects to the pointer to user classes inside a procedure. I receive this error for two general functions that have this pointer declarations in the VAR_INPUT section. It seems a bug into the export/import process of CodeSYS and I couldn't skip it so far. Hello, I have developed a Python script that I run to import XML files into my project. For this, I use the Python function import_xml(). Everything was working fine when I was using Codesys platform plugins version 2.6.1.2320, but since I upgraded to versions 2.7 and even 2.8, some files are no longer imported correctly. After some research, I identified that all the files containing variables of the type "POINTER TO" are affected. I have attached a screenshot of the error I am encountering. Do you know about this bug? Do you plan to fix it?
