My CODESYS OPC UA server provides endpoints using both the hostname and the IP address. Connecting via the IP address works fine, but connecting via the hostname does not. The endpoint list shows both opc.tcp://<hostname>:4840 and opc.tcp://<ip>:4840. When using the hostname, the OPC UA client (UA Expert) fails to connect. Using the IP address connects without issues. Main goal is to conect via Python but opcua-asyncio seems to prefer the hostname. How can I configure CODESYS or my system so that the OPC UA connection via hostname also works properly or disable it completly? Running Codesys for PFC200 sl 4.18.0.0

hi, i am currently trying to adapt an i/o device for a project. the node id is unknown and there is no eds file available. no data is being emitted from the device as a giveaway, the baudrate is known but useless without the node id. is there an sdo request available to determine the id? i cannot get the device to leave pre op status even with a global nmt request. please help. no hair left.

What maybe helps is the Visu Dialog ST demo project: https://store.codesys.com/en/visu-dialog-st.html This has an application IECOpenDialog where dialogs are opened using the VU.FbOpenDialogExtended function blocks. The fbOpenConfigurationDialog call has a reference (interface) to the "close listener" FB of which it's method is automatically called when the dialog is closed. This way you can create specific function blocks for each dialog when it is closed and do what you want with the data that might have been changed.

Yes, you can use the CODESYS ControlWin V3 Soft PLC. However, if simulation is enabled on the device this will disable all communication, so you need to turn off simulation to view the visualization in a web browser. In simulation mode, all IO and communication is disabled for standalone testing. In addition, make sure to set the start visualization in the WebVisu object in the application tree. Despite working on it for days, I haven't achieved any results. I followed the necessary steps one by one as mentioned in the file you sent, but there hasn't been the slightest change. I couldn't find the step you mentioned "Set the 'Can Board Type' to PCAN USB" in the Word document. There is no such setting anywhere I looked. Is there a more detailed explanation available, or can you explain it in more detail? What am I missing?

An interesting remark for CODESYS Support. I found this after looking through the Runtime Deploy Tool messages when I connect to an AMD64 architecture Successfully Connected to Target ( {MyIP} - AMD64 ) when I connect to an ARM64 architecture (Raspberry Pi5) Successfully Connected to Target ( {MyIP} - ) As clearly seen in the attached .png, the AMD64 target is detected, while the ARM64 target architecture is not detected (displayed). I assume that this is the reason why the pulldown menu isn't populated correctly.

I have found a work around. I have written a python scripts that runs on user login (entry in .bashrc) which overwrites the webvisu.htm and webvisu.cfg.json file with the configuration for the B&R T30 panel (resolution and disable scaling). First I tried to add this setting to the the CODESYSControl.cfg, but that does not work following the big CODESYS Control V3 Manual. What do you mean by continuous movement? You want to continuously follow a dynamic target position? SMC_ControlAxisByPos, which is typically used with CNC Interpolators, could work for that. Instead of feeding the target position in from the Interpolator, feed in the target position from your server instead. The problem is looking for a bug somewhere in CoDeSys in that, when the slave returns, the cyclic data exchange resumes, but the diagnostics do not update and the node continues to resulting off-line. it is not a problem with the PB master, but with its 3S/CoDeSys management. CoDeSys 3.5.19.20 runtime. Any ideas on how to fix it? Thank you.

Are you sure when running as service, it is not reading configuration from C:\Windows\System32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Roaming\CODESYS... ? Is the SRV user is set for the CODESYS services? 2 ways to fix it: Change the CODESYSControl.cfg in the installation directory (ProgramFiles/CODESYS...). Replace %APPDATA% with something fix. Modify the service configuration in windows service manager to run as a different user (ie bot as Local system account)

I have a Codesys-based Eurotherm E+PLC400 connected to Codesys HMI SL for visualization. I am also bringing in several Pressure Indicators via the Ethernet. Everything works; however, the Pressure indicators sometimes read a negative value. When they do, the displayed value on the screen reads "65532." While I know what it represents, the customer freaks out and wants it to read "0" or a negative number. The value comes in as an integer, just in case that matters. Does anyone have any ideas?

Dear @gseidel, @tk096, I noticed that with SoftMotion V4.18.0.0, if a new axis is added to the project, the ramp type selection defaults to "Quadratic". In all previous versions, the velocity ramp type selection was "Trapezoidal". This causes some unexpected issues in projects with SoftMotion version V4.18.0.0 for newly created or newly added axes to existing projects. Is it possible to reconsider this situation in the next update and set the velocity ramp type to "Trapezoid" by default again? Best Regards, Imdat

When you have a deep object structure where not all values are not exposed to OPC UA, the top object will not have a V check mark but be filled fully out. In that case CODESYS do not always registrate changes to inner object. Solution set a V in the checkbox of the top object, build, download. Now you can browse, but all values in the top object will be selected, then you can deselect the ones you don't want, build, download and it works

Hello, We encountered the same issues on both recipe library versions 4.2.0.0 and the newest 4.3.0.0. The Arrays of structs get saved correctly but loading them restores only some indexes, while others get lost or completely wrong. We have been using the same recipes for the last two years on recipe manager vers. 3.5.17 withoud issues. There also seems to be a different behaviour in vers. 4.3.0.0 but it's still incorrectly loading the recipes. Did you find any workaround or solution? Codesys version used: 3.5.19.50

Hello, I couldn't figure what/where the issue was, so I deleted everything from automation server and reinstalled the edge gateway and did the process again. It worked for about a month and then it stopped working again. It presents the same symptom, edge gateway is online but I can't connect to the PLC. Any idea of what could be the issue? Thank you!

Good morning, I am currently working on implementing a display dimmer. I want the display to dim after X minutes. This works so far. The implementation is done via the Linux subsystem, to which a command is sent to dim the display. However, my problem is resetting the timer when input is received. I want the dimming timer to be reset with each click/touch. Unfortunately, I can't find a suitable solution for this. Are there any ways to do this? Codesys v3.5 SP19 Patch 2

Unfortunately, I noticed that I am not using the MQTT client SL, but the AzureMQTTClient from the Azure IoT Hub Client SL library. At first glance, there is no parameter to increase the message size. Does anyone know how to increase this in the library or is it simply not possible here?

Hi everyone, I just created a very simple library without any code and, added it to my very simple project. after adding this library, I get an error when I try to open "Symbol Set" in "OPC UA Server" in "Communication Manager". Here is the code of my POU in the library: FUNCTION_BLOCK POU VAR eCommand : (CMD_NONE:=0, CMD_RESET:=-1) INT := CMD_NONE; END_VAR Attached is the error that I get. I also noticed that by removing the enumeration variable above (eCommand), I can open the "Symbol Set" again. Anybody has any idea why this error is raised and how could I use enumeration variables without error in "OPC UA Symbol Set"?

Dear forum, I currently have a big question mark above my head, and maybe this forum can shine some light on the situation. I recently updated to Codesys 3.15 SP19 Patch 6. And now I’m trying to setup the OPC-UA server, besides that I’m trying to connect to the controller with the Codesys V3 (Ethernet) protocol. OPC-UA I have installed the correct licenses on my controller (Runtime and communication). I’m able to connect to the controller with an OPC-UA client, and I’m able to browse the tags, so far so good. Therefore I’m assuming that the OPC-UA server is running on the controller. But now the strange part, in the device security settings I have set the communication Policy to BASCI256SHA256 ( I also have tried the other ones) and the communication mode is set to secure if possible (I also have tried all the other ones) (see picture). With these settings I would assume that I would only be able to login with a Basic256SHA256 policy with a client. But the opposite is true, I am able to login using the no policy mode and when I set it to Basic256SHA256 the client (UA-Expert) notes that this policy is not available on the server. I then check the certificates and I noted that there is no certificate for the OPC-UA server, I tried to generate one but it gave the error that the certificate has not been created by the device (See picture). To summarize I have no clue what is going on, and the controller does the opposite of what I would expect. Codesys Ethernet V3 driver I have a HMI connected to the same controller using the Ethernet V3 driver. But this will not connect. I tried all the Protocols (see picture), with and without the username and password enabled. But it will not connect, when I scan the available servers I can see the controller with the port number that I am expecting, so I’m assuming that the Codesys V3 ethernet driver is up on the controller. Does anyone can give me some direction, because the stuff that I tried doesn’t make sense to me. Thank you in advance

Objective: I want to dynamically update the content with strings and JPEG images received from a TCP/IP socket. For this purpose, I am exploring the possibility of utilizing the Web Browser feature of the Visualization toolbox. Example: In a standard web browser, entering data:text/plain;charset=utf-8;base64,SGVsbG8gc3RyYW5nZXI= in the URL window will display "Hello stranger" on the webpage. Issue: When attempting to use this method in the Web Browser of the Visualization toolbox, the content does not display as expected. Instead, it shows the error:'Navigation to the webpage was canceled.'. Request: I seek guidance on how to resolve this issue so that the Web Browser in the Visualization toolbox correctly interprets and displays the data URI content. Alternative Solution Welcomed: Or, if it is possible to directly use Codesys Structured Text (ST) variables within an HTML page, this approach would also meet my requirements. I think it depends on what you consider as redundant. Is it allowed to plug the network cable in another device (server), move the USB key with license to the other device (server) and then start it up? Or should it automatically switch over within msec and take over the communication with the I/O flawlessly without noticing the switchover? We helped several customers setting up the CODESYS Redundancy functionality and the nice thing is that when you have it up and running, you can easily switchover from active to passive and when you download a new applicaiton, CODESYS handles the update of boot project on the passive controller automatically. Sure this will require an additional license and the license for redundancy, but if your installation is that critical it should be worth it. Please contact us (Extend Smart Coding) if you need any further information. We could help you setup the configuration and possibly provide the licenses for it (I noticed you are situated in the Netherlands).
