Hi, I own a Raspberry Pi Runtime SL (with dongle) which includes softmotion. Which EtherCAT to xxxx gateways are supported from Beckhoff without having to pay for the extra licensing? CANopen master (/slave?) via EL6751 Gateway Profibus master (/slave?) via EL6xxx Gateway? IO Link master via EL6xxx Gateway? Any other gateways? Thank you in advance!

I am glad to hear that they are beginning to support it! Personally, I haven't seen support for PCS7 or TIA portal yet, but it will soon I hope.

EDIT after remark of E.Kislov (not yet => slowly being) Both Siemens and Rockwell are leading vendors in the world market. Being a world market leader also means you are less flexible, so it very much depends on how you define "leading". ;-) Software design wise they are certainly less leading and more conservative. OOP as defined within in CODESYS as in part of IEC61131-3 third edition norm (2012) is slowly being supported with these vendors. OOP will eventually become available widespread with...

Learning OOP is always good! Slowly the entire industry is shifting towards using a combination of Procedural / OOP style code. This going on since 2012 or so. Mostly usage is a matter of being used to it or "we have always done it like this, why would we change that?". A good shift in reasoning would be to ask yourself "what is in it for us/me?". Using OOP will help you in avoid writing duplicate code in a structured manner, so costs and readability/maintainability will benefit from using OOP in...

Why don't you declare the TestWord as a VAR_GLOBAL ? Then you can easily use it in PRG1 & PRG2 without using pointers. Just be careful with running PRG1 or PRG2 in a different task of each other.

If am wrong, please correct me(!) but I remember that older RPi licenses (like mine from 2016) do contain free softmotion. The latest version does not contain free softmotion anymore. So it all depends on what type of RPi license you have. An older one or a newer one. See All versions v3.5.15.0; Removal of SoftMotion license - available as separate product Don't get me wrong, the current RPi license is undeniably (still) crazy good value for money, even without the softmotion. In this light, assuming...

I think, in order for you to get proper help, you must better specify what you mean with "There the signals are to be overwritten with the names from Codesys or newly created." Personally I am not familiair with Tecnomatix, let alone their "signals" format. So, please provide any information, as then we can maybe help you better..

I think this example is for SP14 or SP15, you use SP11.

  • aliazzz aliazzz posted a comment on discussion Engineering

Depending on the type of solution it standard or your own flavour ;-) In your case, my suggestion would be the for you to take a very good look at the Devicelog solution. It is compatible with ALL Codesys runtime/and vendor hardware. There are many examples available that demonstrate it's usage. Both CfUnit and SparkplugB use this variant of logging, in fact every Runtime(!) uses this kind of logging by design allready.
