Post by robpqs on Visual error with cut/shredded texts CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello, This is an old topic but it might help. This can/should be solved by either of the solution below 1. disabling the "Support client animations and overlay of native elements" option in the visualization Manager (which is handy) 2. disabling the "Hardware acceleration" of the browser. Saw it happening on some clients/PC and on other it works fine with the same webvisu... (Version 3.5.19.20 with visu package 4.4.0.0) Hopefully it will be fixed it in a next release. I haven't tested the 4.5.0.0 visu packages yet. RP,

Post by rene-h on VU.FbOpenDialog - TargetVisu - 2 x WebVisu CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello, i am trying to find a way how to open Dialogs on a Single Visu. The options from VU.Globals are Target and WebVisu, but Webvisu opens the Dialog on both WebVisus and it should be separated. CurrentVisu can only be used when the Dialog is called from the Visu, but its all done in the Code. One Webvisu is for the User and one is for diagnostic reasons, and they should not be interfered from each other. Maybe someone can help me with this. Thanks

Post by alimans on High Cycle Times for SoftMotion_PlanningTask when using AxisGroup CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi Manuknecht, Did you manage to solve the problem? I’m facing the same issue with Windows RTE SoftMotion — it works fine as long as nothing else is open in Windows, but as soon as I start another application, the EtherCAT DC time and max jitter values spike, and then all axes stop. I’ve already sent a support request to CODESYS, but haven’t received a response yet.

Post by imdatatas on SMC_ERROR.SMC_AXIS_NOT_READY_FOR_MOTION when using Drive Virtual CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
@ducng, Another possible situation could be that normally there are 3 inputs for MC_Power. In your above images, I can't see the "bDriveStart" input activated. As Mr. @gseidel mentioned, you need to make sure MC_Power.Status output should be TRUE. Issuing any movement command without activating the axis would naturally result in an error. For MC_Power; You can set the Enable and bDriveStart inputs to TRUE and try turning the axis activation on and off using only the bRegulatorOn input. Regards, Imdat

Post by gseidel on MC_Phasing state explenation CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi kenth1973, MC_Phasing has been improved in recent versions. I would recommend to install the latest version of SoftMotion (4.20.1.0) and test whether the problem still exists, and if so, what the error identifier is. (Also check the PLC log in this case, it might contain additional information.) Setting the internal state of the FB is not recommended, it could lead to malfunction of the FB and unintended movements of the drive. Best regards, Georg

Post by msirotkin on EtherCAT status errors CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Didn't help. I'm just trying to understand why the errors occur. Are they from the poor driver or from the Linux network stack. That's why I wanted to know how the rxerros and lostframes are counted. Because in other places (like ethtool info) there are no any issues. And the Ethercat device works fine. And it also strange that on the second ethernet port with a different HW and driver Ethercat works better, but still time to time gets such errors.

Post by bertus on Can't get SMC_SmoothPath to work CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello all, I am trying to run a XY trajectory from a static G-Code file. Everything works except the smoothing/blending of the corners. My setup: Codesys v3.5sp18 Raspberry Pi 4 CODESYS Control for Raspberry Pi SL, using demo license. Zero axes (only using the interpolator). The order of processing for my decoding is: SMC_NCDecoder (ok) SMC_SmoothMerge (ok) SMC_SmoothPath (not ok) SMC_LimitDynamics SMC_CheckVelocities I created following instances and buffers: fbNCDecoder: SMC_NCDecoder; fbSmoothMerge: SMC_SmoothMerge; fbSmoothPath: SMC_SmoothPath; fbLimitDynamics: SMC_LimitDynamics; fbCheckVelocities: SMC_CheckVelocities; aNCDecoderBuffer: ARRAY[0..49] OF SMC_GeoInfo; // buffer stage 1 (fbNCDecoder) aSmoothMergeBuffer: ARRAY[0..19] OF SMC_GeoInfo; // buffer stage 2 (fbSmoothMerge) aSmoothPathBuffer: ARRAY[0..99] OF SMC_GeoInfo; // buffer stage 3 (fbSmoothPath) aLimitDynamicsBuffer: ARRAY[0..39] OF SMC_GeoInfo; // buffer stage 4 (fbLimitDynamics) My original G-Code file has a lot of short G1 elements but this example, I reduced it to a simple square: N000 G51 D10 N010 G38 O1 N020 G00 X0 Y0 F50 E1000 E-1000 N030 G01 X0 Y-37.5 N040 G01 X-75 Y-37.5 N050 G01 X-75 Y37.5 N060 G01 X0 Y37.5 N070 G01 X0 Y0 N080 G50 N090 G39 O1 In the Codesys CNC settings, I have these instances activated: SMC_SmoothMerge SMC_SmoothPath SMC_LimitDynamics SMC_CheckVelocities And with those settings (and the path-preprocessing button actived), the G-Code viewer shows the square with nicely blended corners (see attached picture). However, when running it on the PLC, it doesn't blend the corners at all. Below the relevant part of my code. The process is started with bDecode. // stage 1: decoding G-code fbNCDecoder( ncprog := square, bExecute:= bDecode, bAbort:= NOT bDecode, nSizeOutQueue := SIZEOF(aNCDecoderBuffer), pbyBufferOutQueue := ADR(aNCDecoderBuffer) ); // stage 2: merge short linear segments fbSmoothMerge( bExecute := bDecode, poqDataIn := fbNCDecoder.poqDataOut, nSizeOutQueue := SIZEOF(aSmoothMergeBuffer), pbyBufferOutQueue := ADR(aSmoothMergeBuffer), piMaxDifference := PI_MAX_DIFFERENCE, usiMaxDegree := 5, wFeatureFlag := 1, wAdditionalParamNumber := 0, dMinimumCurvatureRadius := D_MIN_CURVATURE_RADIUS ); // stage 3: smooth corners fbSmoothPath( bExecute := bDecode, bAbort := NOT bDecode, poqDataIn := fbSmoothMerge.poqDataOut, eMode := SMC_SMOOTHPATHMODE.SP_SPLINE5_MIN_CURVATURE, eAddAxMode := SMC_SMOOTHPATHADDAXMODE.SPAA_NONE, nSizeOutQueue := SIZEOF(aSmoothPathBuffer), pbyBufferOutQueue := ADR(aSmoothPathBuffer), dAngleTol := D_ANGLE_TOL, bSymmetricalDistances := TRUE, bImprovedSymmetricCuts := TRUE ); // stage 4: keep acc/dec and velocity within limits fbLimitDynamics( bExecute := bDecode, bAbort := NOT bDecode, poqDataIn := fbSmoothPath.poqDataOut, wAxis := 16#07, nSizeOutQueue := SIZEOF(aLimitDynamicsBuffer), pbyBufferOutQueue := ADR(aLimitDynamicsBuffer), bIncludePathSettings := TRUE, dMaxVel := 2500, dMaxAccDec := 10000 ); // stage 5: check the path speed fbCheckVelocities( bExecute := bDecode, bAbort := NOT bDecode, poqDataIn := fbLimitDynamics.poqDataOut, dAngleTol := D_ANGLE_TOL); pathQueue := fbCheckVelocities.poqDataOut; // repeat until MaxDuration ... Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Is smooth path supposed to work at all when using a demo license? Thanks.

Post by gseidel on CAM Motion Recover after STO CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Dear Mr. Kolev, can you please explain a little more: what happens at an STO? I assume the slave axes will be stopped and retain their current position? How, then, do you call MC_CamIn after the STO? Do you restart it with a new rising edge, but on the same master position as before the STO? Which StartMode are you using, is the cam slave absolute or relative, master absolute or relative? Are the slave axes modulo or finite axes? Best regards, Georg Seidel

When i instanciate a class with the NEW()-operator and want to debug/watch the interface of the class, the watch is only showing "Hidden Instance" (See attached screenshot). Is there any possibility to debug the interface data ? The interface is working properly but the debugging by the watch is not possible, what is a big disadvantage. Thank you. Best Regards, Alexander

Post by janber0206 on Gateway doesn't come online, regarding a working internet connection CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Solved EN: The Problem is that the Codesys Edge-Gateways have a License with a runtime of an half year, as long the Gateways are online they will self renew themselfs. In my Case the RevPi was more than a year offline and so the Edge-Gateway was not working anymore. The solution: I accessed a laptop that was directly connected to the RevPi. I installed the Codesys service tool and renewed the certificate manual.

Post by tyronnosaurus on ReceiveWatchdog FB not working on J1939 P2P PGNs CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi guys. I've got a device that sends a status message over J1939 and a PLC running Codesys to receive it. This message uses a P2P PGN (as opposed to a broadcast PGN). Codesys can only read it if I mark the J1939_ECU as "Local" (see screenshot 1). The message is received correctly, that is not the problem. The problem is detecting if the message stops being received. Local ECUs have no Watchdog checkbox to detect if the message has been received in the last X seconds. In order to implement a watchdog, I've used a ReceiveWatchdog FB. The same code works well for any non-P2P message, but doesn't work for this particular P2P message I'm trying to monitor. Even if I physically disconnect the device, ReceiveWatchdog.xBusy stays True, and ReceiveWatchdog.xError never triggers due to a timeout error. Is there any caveat in the ReceiveWatchdog FB that makes it unable to monitor P2P PGNs in Local J1939_ECUs?

Post by mubeta on parker servo and position CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
In general, drives have parameter sets to adjust behaviour in such cases: position recovery, adaptation with resistant torque, out-of-position window failure, etc. (Much depends on the type of configuration set for the axis: positioner, speed controller, torque controller, etc.). I have used that type of drive very little, in only two cases and a long time ago. To tell you what is normal is impossible. I know by reputation they are very simple objects, without too many pretensions and adjustments possible. Try running traces by monitoring actual position, motor current, torque and following error. These are the most sensible curves to understand what is going on. Maybe by fine tuning the motor tuning, the current controller or the speed controller you will get something closer to what you want. For example, from DS, the motor has a standstill torque of 3 Nm. Observe with traces whether this is effective: motor current trend. And afterwards, when you have your own accurate picture of the situation, you can also hear from the product's local support to see if you can steal a few more things from it performance-wise.

Post by rossanoparis on Clarifications regarding the appropriate runtime system to use CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Thank you @TimvH It is clear that licences are application based and now thanks to your reply I could understand the meaning of RT systems. The RT called "CODESYS Control for Linux ARM SL" can be deployed on a generic debian based ARM system. The RT called "CODESYS Control for Raspberry Pi MC SL" is more specific for Rasberry HW. Did I understand correctly? Regarding the RT called "CODESYS Virtual Control SL" despite its description it is not clear to me when to use it. It seems that a project created using such RT system can be deployed on any HW. It sound good obviously, as it means that it is possible to realize a completely abstract project from its hardware. The only limit could be represented by the need of using a specific HW or OS feature, in that case a more specific RT system should be chosen. Is my last consideration correct? Regards Rossano

Post by egau on Hard shutdown: no code on device after power on CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi, We have a machine running Codesys on a Windows IPC (CODESYS Control Win v3 - x64). When we hard shutdown the machine, the code on the PLC sometimes becomes "corrupted" after a power on (When trying to login to the PLC, we get the message "The application 'Application' does not exist on device."). I've noticed these errors in the logs, but I'm not sure what to make of them. We are not using any RETAIN variables in our code, although I'm not sure about referenced librairies. (we are using the persistence manager). I'm pretty sure that not doing a graceful shutdown is the root cause of this. This being said, what is the proper way of doing a graceful shutdown? Is putting the Codesys application in "stop" sufficient? I know how to implement this, so if it works then it would be a quick fix. However, I think we need to add a UPS, which would detect power loss and inform the PLC that it needs to initiate its shutdown, and then the PLC would shutdown gracefully. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated :)

Post by egau on Hard shutdown: no code on device after power on CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
This explanation aligns with the issues we’re experiencing with our machines. The scenario I described is happening with one of them (let’s call it Machine A). This machine is identical to another one (Machine B), except for some custom code that facilitates communication with an external Beckhoff PLC for MES integration in the production line. Machine B has been powered on and off daily for at least three months and has never had this problem. Given that, I highly doubt the MES custom code is the cause of the code corruption. This being said, your explanation does seem plausible. However, if faulty EtherCAT cables were the issue, why wouldn't the error occur during normal operation? Why would bad cables only cause problems during a hard shutdown? One last question: When you encountered this behavior, did you see a similar error in your logs? i.e, an "AccessViolation" exception in the EtherCAT Task?

Post by andrax on CodeSys Raspberry pi I2C driver not found CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi, Communication with the ADS1115 is actually simple. 1. write config 2. write address pointer 3. read conversation register The ADS1115 works like a multiplexer. This means that you do this individually for each channel that you want to read. e.g: Channel 1: write config > write address pointer > read conversation register Channel 2: write config > write address pointer > read conversation register Channel 3: write config > write address pointer > read conversation register Channel 4: write config > write address pointer > read conversation register then you start again from the beginning You can also omit individual channels or read only one. It doesn't matter. I have written the driver so that I can also use it on the TCA9548. The driver is from Stefan Dreyer. In your case, the driver works and communication with the ADS1115 is running. As you can see, the cfgWrong:=FALSE If you could not write or read data, cfgWrong:=TRUE; This means that either something is wrong with your ADS1115 or you have connected something incorrectly. Question: what voltage do you want to measure?

Post by imdatatas on Auto Declare window disappears by itself in the Ladder editor CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello Everyone, The "Auto Declare" window disappears by itself in the Ladder editor. For example, a new function block is wanted to be added to the Ladder editor. (For example; MC_Jog block and instance name will be fbMcJog). To do this, "Empty box with EN/ENO" is added to the ladder line from the Toolbox on the right and when you type MC_Jog in the empty box and press enter, normally the "Auto Declare" window appears and you are expected to be asked to write the instance name here. However, this "Auto Declare" window closes itself immediately, it does not wait for the user to enter a value or close the window. I often encounter this situation in many IDE versions. Does this seem like a bug? If anyone has encountered a similar problem while creating a new program name, function or function block instance name regarding the "Auto Declare" window and knows a solution, I would be glad if you could share it. Best wishes Imdat

Post by shaunvdm on Canbus Slave SDO Read from Object CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Busy testing a solution to use Canbus Slave to replace a physical device and convert to Ethercat device but keep the Canbus Master in place. Master needs to Read SDO object 5FA2. In the Master PLC if i send the SDO with 8 bytes in message IE: 60B 40 A2 5F 00 00 00 00 00 i get my expected 58B 43 A2 5F 00 00 68 36 02 containing data back. Problem is if we issue a 4 byte command can send 60B 40 A2 5F. Surely the canbus slave should respond with a 58B 43 A2 5F 00 00 68 36 02 but it comes back as 80 A2 5F 00 00 00 00 08 - meaning this OBJECT does not exist. Is there a setting in the canbus slave driver for Canbus to allow the 4 byte command to read the SDO OBJECTS ?

Post by pouyavakili on Execute Codesys Tests with python CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Thank you for your input! What I'm ultimately trying to achieve is automated test execution as part of a CI/CD pipeline (e.g. in GitLab or Azure DevOps). For this, I need to: Open a CODESYS project via script Build the project Run the Test Manager tests from a .TestRepository.xml Collect test results (e.g., pass/fail + a report) Exit with a proper return code (for pipeline success/failure) To integrate this into automation, I’m using the CODESYS scripting engine via Python (headless), but the issue is that the get_testmanager() function isn't available on the project object — even though Test Manager is installed, licensed, and works interactively in the IDE. Are you suggesting that I should: Use the Test Manager GUI to script the logic with its internal scripting language? Or is there a way to launch the Test Manager in headless/scripted mode, while still being able to control things via Python? If there's a supported way to automate tests with the Test Manager using scripting, especially from pipelines or headless environments, I’d really appreciate any pointers or example workflows. Thanks again!

Post by pernockham on AC Persistence - values are not read from file during start? CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Im struggling with the AC Persistence. AC persistence seems to work for any variable that is changed online and values are kept during reboot. However, if I try to edit the persistence files offline or replace the persistence files with a previously downloaded older persistence file (with modified values), the online value will not follow, as if the system did not at all read the file at boot? My testing sequence. - Edit a the value of a persistenced variable (with xSaveOnChange = True) - Save/download the associated persistence file, (and confirm the value has changed). - Edit the value online for a second time . - Stop runtime - Replace (upload) the persistence file with my previously downloaded file . - Coldstart/Warmstart/Start runtime - Whatever Im trying the value of my persistence variable will always be equal to that of my second edit as if the file is not read/considered during boot. What am I doing wrong?
