Sorry for being late to the party... so it is not possible to use the webbrowser tool to display external websites in a visu anymore? As it is not possible to simply "adjust the ContentSecurityPolicyIncludeTrustedOrigins setting in the automatically generated webvisu.cfg.json file" as stated in the docs? We need to display data read from a Raspberry Pi (part of our computer network) in our webvisu. We used to do it by entering the Pi's IP address as the URL variable in the webbrowser element but now (I don't know since when, I'm new on the job) "The page’s settings blocked the loading of a resource (frame-src) at 'IP address' because it violates the following directive: “default-src 'self' 'unsafe-inline'”. What are the options for displaying the data?

Good day, I’m writing this message out of frustration regarding the current way project files are saved as encrypted XML and single-file format in CODESYS. I find this approach to be quite tedious for several reasons: Limited Access to Structured Text: Not being able to access Structured Text (ST) externally makes it impossible to work with alternative editors like VSCode. Tools like VSCode are incredibly responsive and feature advanced systems such as GitHub Copilot, which would be a real game-changer when working with ST IEC. While CODESYS works well for small code snippets or debugging, when the codebase grows, switching to VSCode to boost productivity becomes essential, and copy-pasting between environments is a cumbersome workaround. Poor Integration with Git: This file format also makes it very difficult to integrate effectively with Git. I have tested the internal demo, but for advanced merges, it is unusable. Without properly formatted plain text, it’s impossible to leverage the vast ecosystem of external tools around Git that allow smooth merges in heterogeneous teams. File Corruption on Network Drives: I often work from multiple locations with shared network drives. When the development environment saves a file and something goes wrong midway (which can occasionally happen when using VPNs and network drives), the entire project becomes irrecoverable. There’s no way to cancel the save process, and the development environment freezes. This has happened to me at least four times over the past two weeks, and one of those incidents cost me an entire day of work. All of this is particularly disappointing because I truly believe that the libraries, runtime, and overall work done by CODESYS are exceptional. I find it fantastic that there is a platform allowing development of PLCs and control systems using OOP, which is a huge advantage in modern control engineering. I apologize for the rant, but this issue has been extremely frustrating. Best regards.

Hi, supporting a text based storage format is on our roadmap, see https://www.codesys.com/the-system/releases-updates-lifecycle/release-plan-roadmap.html It will be an Add-On feature called "File Based Storage" for the professional developer edition. Structured text POUs will be stored as plain text. Other graphical languages will remain in an xml format. You will be able to switch the storage type for projects. Certain workflows will become easier this way. Nevertheless restrictions will remain because of CODESYS specific storage logic (for example how methods below function blocks are stored as file). So merging using our Git Integration Add-On remains the recommended workflow. A workflow involving Visual Studio Code as the main IDE is not supported. Simply because many topics like library management, task configuration or fieldbus configurators are not available for VS Code. A PLC project is a lot more than just some ST POUs. Best Regards

Hi, We are currently using a Raspberry Pi 4 CM4 module in a EdgeBox RPI 200 - Industrial Edge Controller running the latest CODESYS Runtime Package 4.11.0.0. On the PC (actually an Intel Macbook Pro running Windows 10 in Parallels) we run CODESYS V3.5.19.50. Yesterday end of day when I was about to logoff and head home, I wanted to send the latest build to the Raspberry I clicked the Login button to compile a new version and then sync the application and all the files, it get's stuck on the last file to sync (see attached screenshot). This takes eternally, although sometimes, when I use my SFTP client (Cyberduck) and go into the raspberry and refresh the directory /var/opt/codesys/PlcLogic/visu/, or when I open the actual file visuelemsdatetime.tl_datetime.txt, it gets un-stuck (forcing a refresh, which might fix the syncing issue) and CODESYS continues and I can click the Start button to start the application. But this SFTP force refresh trick does not always help either... What could be the issue here? network connectivity? Can someone please help me out?

Hi, I'm trying to launch a continuously running python script from Codesys and monitor the script status inside the Codesys runtime (running on a Linux enviroment). For now I'm testing with the below to emulate a continuously running Python script: #test.py i = 0 while True: i += 1 I'm able to successfully run the script using SysProcessExecuteCommand2 (I can see the Python process running in the task manager). However, this "freezes" the Codesys execution of the task - it sits on that command and will not continue until the Python script ends. I've proven this works by using the task monitor to kill the process, then Codesys continues on happily through the task. What I want to do is use SysProcessCreate2 to set up the Python script as a background task and monitor the process using SysProcessGetState. This always results in the error "ERR_OPERATION_DENIED". I know that I'm able to execute commands (as above), so my config should be correct. Is SysProcessCreate2 functional on a Linux environment? Is there something in the config file I'm missing? Before this upgrade all worked fine. Perhaps I'm missing something or I didn't understand how to use placeholders at all. Is there a different syntax to use for "SysFileOpen" in order to use placeholders? That really depends on this third party software you want to use. It is possible that .xml file generated with "Generate EtherCAT XML" will not be recognized as valid ENI file. Anyway, "Generate EtherCAT XML" command is not available through standard menus and needs to be added via Tools->Customize and then Add Command. You'll find it under "Devices" section. If you provide more info, we might be able to help you further.

The script is working because when I execute it from the Raspberry terminal it works. Now, when I push a button on the PiFace I would like to execute the python script file to print. I have Already the same problem when i'm trying to write data more than 10 times in the same file. In fact, i send my data periodicaly to a file that i configured to have permission of W/R in my CodesysContol.cfg. When the Error occurs, i must reboot my machine to success. It means that the problem isn't realted to a limitation of size, but a problem in the function supposed to handle the file. totorovic : allow me to know if you've found a solution to your problem. Hello, We are trying to implement an automated method of adding of a certificate and private key to the Windows certificate store for encrypting CODESYS projects. We want to do this so that users do not have to deal with details of certificates at all and to prevent user error. We are keen on enforcing strong private key protection since it ensures that a password is required for the certificate to be used to decrypt a CODESYS project. When we add a certificate to the certificate store and enable strong key protection using the Microsoft Management Console Certificates snap-in, it works as expected. However, through this method the user may mistakenly not enable strong private key protection. For the certificates we create programmatically (using Microsoft’s Cryptography Next Generation API in .Net 7) bag attributes are added to the certificate and key by the API. These bag attributes are as follows: Bag Attributes localKeyID: 01 00 00 00 subject=C = xx, ST = xxx, O = xxx, OU = xxx, CN = xxx issuer=C = xx, ST = xxx, L = xxx, O = xxx, OU = xxx, CN = xxx -----BEGIN CERTIFICATE----- [encoded certificate] -----END CERTIFICATE----- After using this certificate with bag attributes to encrypt a CODESYS project, it can’t be decrypted, showing this error: "The specified project could not be loaded. Possible reasons might be: - The project file is corrupted or invalid - The project has been saved with a newer version of the programming system. If this is the case, you can open the project in the corresponding version. Choose "Save as..." with the appropriate storage version, and retry again. - You may not have the necessary permissions to lad the project" We know that the bag attributes are causing the issue because if we manually edit the certificate file to remove them before using the certificate to encrypt a project, the project can be decrypted as expected. However, we are unable to automatically enforce strong key protection using this method. Note it is now part of Codesys IIoT Libraries SL in the form of Web Client SL, but I am not using this version. I was sending Content-Type: application/json, HTTP POST using a HTTPS URL. No issue observed initially, successful operation. At some point operation stopped and the codesyscontrol.log file started to accumulate errors: ERROR: TlsCreateContext2: Failed to save context. An application reset failed to resume operation and I was unable observe any TCP connection forming to a destination port 443. The error appeared as a TCP_INIT error. I can find no details as to what may have happened or why a reset of the PLC application did not resume operation. Testing with a curl operation proved to be successful, so I am confident there was no fundamental networking issue preventing a TCP connection forming. The solution was to reboot the hardware itself, but this is not satisfactory in the long term. Is there any description of the TLS error I received? Is there any suggestion here that there might be an issue with certificates? Any advice or information is appreciated.
