Currently in my test the variables declared in the first application are not visible and writable in the second. I ask if there is the possibility of having variables that are visible both in the first application and in the second.

I have now conducted some tests. The problem occurs when the Python script establishes an OPCUA connection, even if I only establish the connection without reading or writing any data. Is there another way to exchange data between Python and CODESYS without having to put in a lot of effort?

Im using SysCom ver. 3.5.17.0 and seem to have the same issue on a Raspberry Pi. It's not waiting for the requested number of bytes, no matter if "ulTimeout := SYS_INFINITE" or any other value. The only solution I have found is to stall the program to allow the serial port to recieve the data.

What worked for me with this error was to go to Tools -> Update Raspberry Pi, select Install, and from the popup screen, there are options to change your installation (I changed it to single core, instead of multicore), and I was then able to connect to my Rpi 4.

Hello, I have an OPC-UA server with an information model. For many values, there is a defined range (e.g., 0 to 100). If a client enters a value outside this range (e.g., 120), the StatusCode should change to Bad. How can I accomplish this? Any help is appreciated! Thank you in advance. Meanwhile, I would like to understand why the motion FB instances must still be called even after the Execute is set to FALSE, especially in view of the fact that the next instruction is programmed to abort the previous one, with BufferMode set to 'Aborting'. All these unnecessary FB calls are an unnecessary overhead on the CPU anyway. Is there any precise rule about when to cease calling the various instances? (It should precisely be the 'done' status that says this one has finished its work). In general: - Motion function blocks have to be called until they report 'Done', 'Error', 'CommandAborted' or a subsequent motion FB with BufferMode=Aborting is started in the current cycle. - Setting the Execute input to FALSE will not abort any ongoing motion of the motion function block. For example, one case that is often problematic is the execution of the Axis Halt instruction. When, after a MoveAbosulte instruction this returns the event as 'done' and indeed the axis is in standstill, the state machine first sets the move instruction to FALSE, and the next cycle sets the Halt request to TRUE. Some of the time everything works out fine. Occasionally, however, in this exchange, the axis goes into fault, also losing the OPERATIONAL state. I think the error SMC_FB_WASNT_CALLED_DURING_MOTION is only a follow-up (and misleading) error that results from the axis not being in operational state anymore (bus problems). Is there an error 'regulator or start not set' in the device log before the error 'motion generating FB wasn't called for at least one cycle'? Which error does the respective function block (Halt.ErrorId) report?

have a look at UNIONs. With a union you are able to write single bytes to the same adress area which belongs to a float variable at the same time. I like to do a lot of convertions belonging to interfaces and fieldbus in this way, f.eg. word / byte swapping etc.

Hi i have a project where i am communicating with many modbus devices using TCP to serial. This is all working extremely well except when i turn one of the remote devices off. If i leave the auto reconnect on it still doesn't talk to the rmianing devices and if i turn Auto reconnect off it locks up. Any help would be appreciated. Paul.

Hello everyone, I have been given the task to develop I/O drivers for a custom made, Linux based board to allow for Codesys applications to run and control the hardware. I have successfully installed Codesys Control SL for ARM/Linux and tested it with a simple demo application. Now I should start interfacing the runtime to the actual hardware; I should be able to interact with 2 RS485 serial ports, a few GPIOs and an I2C port, all of which already have the corresponding /dev/ interface in the Linux system. I am having trouble understanding how it should be approached. I have found sporadic references that fail to lead to a really comprehensive documentation. For example: The store page (https://store.codesys.com/en/codesys-control-for-linux-arm-sl-1.html#options) mentions a "runtime package" that should allow "Integration of existing C code" and "Usage of local I/Os", which seems exactly what I need to interact with custom peripherals. I have found no further reference to Codesys-C interpop. The Codesys Help page for the runtime package has a page on the "Development of Drivers" (https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/CODESYS%20Control/rtsllinuxrbpdriverdevelopment.html) that suggests to either "Implement a function block" or "Implement I/O drivers". Those in turn lead to this page (https://forge.codesys.com/drv/io-drivers/doc/Generic/) which describes briefly an XML schema to describe new devices; unfortunately, it doesn't mention what to do with such a description (i.e. how does the runtime know about it) or how it is in any way connected to the actual hardware. Could anyone give me some pointers? I should also mention I have no prior experience with Codesys, so maybe I'm missing an obvious answer.

Hi, I have the same problem. Some of the libraries I created over time depend on writing files to a folders like c:\Temp. I can confirm that proposed solution is not working with 3.5.20 Patch 2. Can you please specify wich exactly .cfg file needs to be modified and in what way, in order to include c:\Temp in the SysFile path? Thank you!

Indeed, I'm also seeking a solution for this issue. The main challenge we face is the requirement to use EV (Extended Validation) Certificates. Due to security considerations, it's not possible—nor is it ever recommended in such cases—to export the certificate with its private key.

It seems to only log the last usage at initialisation and that is it? how do i gain ongoing access to the time variable as the code is running? Thankyou.

Get a different sensor that is 0-10V and 0-350 Bar. There is nothing you can reasonably do to boost the range of the sensor, and the PLC will only ever be 0-10V. Take away is to always be careful to match the sensor and PLC input ranges in the future.

I have a serial Modbus RTU communicating to the Slave device. But when the control system is not in Run there is no power applied to one of the Modbus Devices. Can I enable / disable the communications to that Modbus Slave in the code based on my running mode, so I don't get all the errors?

Hi I try to get korean texts out of a textlist. For that I want to use DynamicTextGetTextW, but I am a little confused how it is supposed to work. The function returns POINTER TO STRING, but how do I get WSTRING? I succesfully used DynamicTextGetText with classical Strings. Thanks in advance!

If the PLC is equieped with a USB socket it's possible to copy the user management file via IEC code to a USB stick and restore it at the new plc. The file is located there: /PlcLogic/visu/app_visuusermgmtdb.csv I use this to reset the user management to default in case of the customer has changed passwords and lost it.

Solved! Go to Control Panel -> Windows Defender Firewall -> Allow an app or feature Enable the options to change settings. Scroll down the list of applications to CODESYS and CODESYS ControlService. If you do not see this application, add it to the list. Make sure all checkboxes are checked (Domain, Private, and Public).
