Any reason the ADS1115 wouldnt work with SP20.1 and Runtime 10.0.0.0 on the Raspberry Pi . Using Bullseye or Buster i run into the same issue: Libary and integration works in general as described above BUT i am seeing "bleeding" between the analog inputs . Specifically consecutive ones: So sometimes the raw from AI1 shows on AI2, AI2 on AI3, .. AI4 on AI1. Even with filtering i cant smoothen that out properly and i feel like something is wrong. Almost like the bus is stumbling over itself, or the request from Codesys to the device.

It seems Podman for Raspberry Pi 3 is not detected correctly in the latest "Deploy Control SL 4.14.0.0" : Linux/ARMHFv7 unknown container technology. 1) The Communication Tab, device information section shows podman technology as DETECTED. 2) The Runtime Deployment menu message says: "unknown container architecture" 3) The pulldown window under the deployment tab doesn't show the options for ARMHF Virtual Edge SL and ARMHF Virtual Control SL. I hope you can fix this soon and keep up the great work!

Hello, I hv a problem. Couldn't solve this for 2 days now. So I'm quite new at CodeSys and I have to use the spi port x30 on the edgelogix rpi 1000. So what I have to do is just 'add device' at the SPI where I hv to pick the 'SPI master' after that I hv to change the parameters according to the edgelogix I did found in the spidev.h but nothing got updated so I 'add device' again where I pick the PiFace I/O Driver and I put my variables at the I/O Mapping, which i put the input startbit at the in part and led at the out part. I want to make the led blink according to my structured text code but somehow the hardware didn't connected with the CodeSys spi port. Nothing happens. Any idea what I have to do?

Good morning everyone. In my setup I am trying to use a couple of EL7041-0052 (the EL7041 variant without terminals for an encoder) to run stepper motors without feedback. When using the softmotion drivers for the EL7041 (Rev22 and Rev24, even selecting external feedback type doesn't work) the device log shows warnings for the corresponding hardware: "SDO write error 0x1 -> 0x8012:0x08 eError 0x1 AbortCode 0x6090011". 0x8012:0x08 is the register for the Feedback Type. My best guess was setting the the register value in the start parameters to zero, but the result is the same. What else can I try to get the hardware to work? I have screenshots attatched showing the running fieldbus and the log messages. EDIT: One clarification: the "device log" that shows the error is the PLC, not the ethercat terminal. The log of the terminal itself shows neither errors nor warnings. BR Robert

Hello, I was trying to create a redundancy POC for our application where we read data from few modbus tcp devices. As there is a limitaion that modbus tcp device support only for single master device, we wanted to test how the variable sync happens in redundancy mode. For that i have used the redundancy sample code added a variable "b" under a condition. What i observed was while active controller is running, if passive controller is powerup, passive controller is able to sync all the data configured for redundacny. But after that the variable data which resided under a condition is not synching from active to passive controller. I have attached the image where i have highlighter the variable. Can some help me to understand how redundacny work in codesys soft plc and if there is a solution to sync variable which are under condition, please explain the same or suggestion to achieve the same. Hardware - Raspberry Pi (2 qty) Redundancy licence used - yes in both controllers. Codesys runtime - 4.9.0.0 Codesys software version - V3.5 SP19 if i have posted this question in wrong section, please do let me know in whcih section i have to post this question.

Hey guys, I'm very much a noob with networking, it's my achillies heel, and this is my first networking project using Ethernet/IP. Any help offered is GREATLY appreciated. I'm trying to network a Codesys Project with an Omron NX1P2 PLC. I'm using EIP due to hardware restrains. I've added the fieldbus, EIP scanner (as the master), and made a Network Variable List. On the Sysmac Studio end, I've made the variables and set them to network inputs/outputs, registered them in EIP settings, but when I try to set the target device (the Codesys project), I suspect I need to import an EDS file for the EIP mapping. Back in the Codesys project, I'm not sure how to: - Make an EDS file to share with Sysmac Studio - How to link the target device (Omron PLC) to the EIP fieldbus - How to map the inputs from the Omron PLC. Im sorry for my very open request for help, i'm kind of lost looking through the various forums/video/tutorials as many of them dont match what im trying to do. Any help, or sample programs would be so so greatly appreciated. If you need any further clarifications, please feel free to ask. Thanks in advance, Toby

Hi I am trying use the Codesys Communication Manager to set up an Opc ua server with a custom information model. As a start I am using the Boiler model available on Opc foundations github page. I am testing with a Wago CC100 and using Codesys V3.5 SP19 Patch 6. I get the following error: Communication Manager [Device: PLC Logic: Application]: The information model http://opcfoundation.org/UA/ is required by http://opcfoundation.org/UA/Boiler/ with a minimal publication date from 15/12/2023 but the device has only a model from 15/09/2021 installed. Probably the information model from 15/09/2021 is missing in the information model repository. The error message does not make sense to me. Should it not be “Probably the information model from 15/12/2023 is missing in the information model repository”? Anyway, both versions are available in the repository. How can I solve this?

Hello mates, I'm working with CODESYS V3.5 SP20 on a Raspberry Pi and I use "Raspberry Pi MC SL" as device on the project. I've installed the Control Standard L (multicore) license on a Wibu System usb-Dongle (cmStick/4.50) that already had another license from another vendor. I follow the online activation procedure from CODESYS documentation. Raspberry Pi has already CodeMeter installed for the other license. When I plugin the dongle on Raspberry and start the Runtime from Raspberry Pi Update in CODESYS I receive the message that I'm on Demo mode because the license is missing. I double checked that the license is activated in the dongle, through the WebAdmin of CodeMeter and the second license runs properly without any issue. I have already try to change the dongle from HID to MSD device and backward but the the Runtime cannot recognize the Dongle. I have also try to stop and start the Runtime through CODESYS without success. Is there anything else I can do to fix this issue?

Hi I am trying to import a custom information model that I created using UA Modeler. I have only added two new methods and two new object types. It is possible to add the information model to the Communication Manager and the two new object types are shown in the Information Model tab. Hello, I use Codesys 3.5 SP18 Patch 4 (64 bit) My Codesys project is composed of several dozen of Modbus TCP Slaves. I want to configure each of them by define : - Modbus TCP Slave Configuration : Name, IPAddress, port - Channels - Mapping I can't afford to configure manually and I need to find automatic way What possibilities does the Codesys offer? 1. I know it possible to use python script to create Modbus TCP Master and Slave. But I don't find anyway to create Channels and Mapping through the API 2. I 've tested to set mapping with file.csv on a Modbus Tcp Slave, but no way to import channels definition from file 3. I 've tried to use PLCOpenXml file. For example I 've create a project with an Ethernet device. I've exported it in PlcOpenXml file. After delete the Ethernet device, I've imported the PlcOpenXml file without success. I've tried the same by creating Modbus TCP Slave. Could you help me to find to good way ? Thanks

Hi guys. I've got a device that sends a status message over J1939 and a PLC running Codesys to receive it. This message uses a P2P PGN (as opposed to a broadcast PGN). Codesys can only read it if I mark the J1939_ECU as "Local" (see screenshot 1). The message is received correctly, that is not the problem. The problem is detecting if the message stops being received. Local ECUs have no Watchdog checkbox to detect if the message has been received in the last X seconds. In order to implement a watchdog, I've used a ReceiveWatchdog FB. The same code works well for any non-P2P message, but doesn't work for this particular P2P message I'm trying to monitor. Even if I physically disconnect the device, ReceiveWatchdog.xBusy stays True, and ReceiveWatchdog.xError never triggers due to a timeout error. Is there any caveat in the ReceiveWatchdog FB that makes it unable to monitor P2P PGNs in Local J1939_ECUs?

Hi, I would like to divide a project into multiple applications - as a minimum: one handling visualization and Alarm Manager, one handling I/O and plant control logic. But how to exchange variables between the applications? What have you done to get such a solution? In versions 3.5.19 and earlier, you can have Child applications, where the children can access a GVL in the Parent application. Children apps is no longer possible in 3.5.20 - but you can have 'sibling' apps - Several apps directly under PLC Logic, that is. But how do they best communicate? The Communication Manager / Data Sources Manager is sort of possible via OPC UA, but it seems like overkill and with some limitations - for example no ARRAY OF STRUCT possible this way. If you have separate devices in your project, you can exchange data via 'CODESYS ApplicationV3', but not other applications in the same device (see attachment Datasources.png). You can do it via 'Select the project type'->'Other Project' and select the same project file, but this leads to crashing the Development system when working with the variables afterwards. It would be great to hear your thoughts / experiences on this topic - Bjarne

Hi, We have a machine running Codesys on a Windows IPC (CODESYS Control Win v3 - x64). When we hard shutdown the machine, the code on the PLC sometimes becomes "corrupted" after a power on (When trying to login to the PLC, we get the message "The application 'Application' does not exist on device."). I've noticed these errors in the logs, but I'm not sure what to make of them. We are not using any RETAIN variables in our code, although I'm not sure about referenced librairies. (we are using the persistence manager). I'm pretty sure that not doing a graceful shutdown is the root cause of this. This being said, what is the proper way of doing a graceful shutdown? Is putting the Codesys application in "stop" sufficient? I know how to implement this, so if it works then it would be a quick fix. However, I think we need to add a UPS, which would detect power loss and inform the PLC that it needs to initiate its shutdown, and then the PLC would shutdown gracefully. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated :)

Hi, For a project I am using the trendmanager functionality, I changed the placeholder filepath to which the SQL database is saved to: home/disk_usb, $trend$. Which only works as long as the usb was mounted to the PLC at boot. However, I'd like to be able to switch the USB's out if they break or for data analysis. However when a new (or the same) USB is plugged back in the shortcut doens't exist on the device anymore. Also in the device directory under root/mnt/ a new folder appears SDB1 in addition to SDA1 to which the Trendmanager was originally writing. The SDA1 folder is empty/unreachable while the new SDB1 folder has the contents of the USB drive. I tried disabling the trendmanger while unplugging the USB's however this doesn't work. My question, how do I make it so that when I plug a USB drive back in, it will be mounted to SDA1 instead of SDB1? Kind Regards

I'm working on a low cost project and I'm considering installing the Codesys runtime on a PC running Linux Debian instead of buying a PLC with a pre-installed runtime. For my needs the Control Standard S license should be capable of running some IO over ethernet/ip, and a webvisu. The PC I am considering has a AMD GX-424CC 2.4GHz processor (4 core/4 thread) and 4GB RAM. This may compare to a raspberry pi4, but I know an X86 processor doesn't directly compare to an ARM processor, and a processor can have a high clock speed but other factors like L2/L3 cache can influence the overall performance. I can't find any published specs for the processor and RAM requirements to run the Codesys Control runtime, does anybody have a link to the minimum system requirements or experience using devices that are at or below the minimum system requirements. A raspberry pi with the control for raspberry pi SL runtime license would be the lowest cost option, but the license is not for commerical use. This restriction is somewhat vague, can anybody clarify if this means I can use a raspberry Pi runtime for in-house automation, what about if I am selling an integrated system that uses a raspberry Pi as a controller?

Ich habe einen brandneuen Beckhoff-Panel-PC mit einer Codesys Control Runtime V3 eingerichtet. Ich habe es zusammen mit 2 Profinet-Feldgeräten konfiguriert: einem 16in/16out IO-Modul von Turck und einem MTS-Linearencoder. Die Maschine funktioniert einwandfrei, bis plötzlich die Kommunikation abbricht und die Profinet-Teilnehmer nicht mehr erreichbar sind. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt kann ich das Gerät noch anpingen, aber der Profinet-Master findet sie nicht mehr: Wenn ich einen Scan durchführe, werden sie nicht gefunden. Wenn ich einen Kaltstart durchführe, wird der Profinet-Master wieder aktiv und die Geräte werden wieder gefunden. Im Protokoll erhalte ich den Ethercat-Paketempfangsfehler: sysethernet. Ich bin etwas verwirrt, es gibt kein Ethercat-Gerät im Gerätebaum. Ich habe den Sendetakt und das Untersetzungsverhältnis bereits auf höhere Werte eingestellt, jedoch ohne Ergebnis. Kann Codesys so konfiguriert werden, dass die Kommunikation ohne Kalt-Reset wiederhergestellt wird? Das ist sehr ärgerlich und verursacht viele Produktionsausfälle. Grüße Tim

Hi everyone, new at Codesys and PLC programming in general. I am using Codesys Win V3.5 SP20 I would like to measure an encoder's frequency output (obtaining that pulse train from Factory IO) and intended to use the MeasureFrequence FB (Intern/CAA/Utilities/CAA Mathematics/3.5.19.0). As mentioned in the title what I need to measure is low frequency, such as lower than 40hz (a cycle every 25mS) or so; I could even go lower frequency if required as this is for test purposes) therefore I am not expecting problem measuring a low frequency with that FB The library in question appears to be installed as I can retrieve it from the Library Repository. I can also see it from the Device's Library Manager. Problem arises when I am trying to instantiate this particular FB. I go like this: VAR MeasF:MeasureFrequence; END_VAR Please note that as soon as I start typing the "MeasureFrequence", the MeasureFrequence comes out as a viable option in auto-typing; seems to indicate that the FB is recognized somehow. But there is no way I can compile this as it comes back with the following: C0046: Identifier 'MeasureFrequence' not defined. Tried to rename that to ABC instead of MeasF; same issue. Possibly that the library is not properly installed ? Placeholder ? I would greatly appreciate a bit of guidance if possible. Thank you and regards, Mike

Die IP-Adresse des Profinet-Controllers soll zur Laufzeit geändert werden. Dabei handelt es sich um eine Anwendung auf einem PC mit einer Standard-Ethernetschittstelle (ControlWinV3+WinPcap). Die Datei "CODESYSControl.cfg" wurde dazu angepasst: .... Adapter.0.Name="Ethernet 4" Adapter.0.EnableSetIpAndMask=1 Die konfigurierte IP-Adresse wird zur Laufzeit an die tatsächliche IP-Adresse der Netzwerkschnittstelle mit dem folgenden Befehl angepasst (die Änderung von 192.168.2.33 auf 192.168.2.34 funktioniert auch): Ethernet.UpdateConfiguredIPSettings(IpAddress:=Ethernet.IPAddress, subnetmask:=Ethernet.Subnetmask, gateway:=Ethernet.GatewayAddress); Der Profinet-Controller geht danach auf Störung und gibt die folgende Fehlermeldung aus: "Controller-Status: currently active IP does not match the controller's configuration" Unter "Ethernet diagnostic information" kann man die geänderte IP-Adresse von 192.168.2.34. Ethernet läuft auch ohne Fehler. Unter "PROFINET IO Driver diagnostic information" -> "IPParameter" sieht man noch die alte (konfigurierte) IP-Adresse 192.168.2.33. Wie kann man die Störung beseitigen? Leider habe ich keine Methode zum Ändern der IP-Adresse auf dem Profinet-Controller gefunden? Reconfiguration des Profinet-Controllers?

Hello, I got a device from which I require to read values from I am using a WAGO PLC 750-8212 and I am communicating through Modbus Master FUNCTION BLOCK from library WagoAppPLCModbus in Codesys 3.5 to this device. I already receive data from the device that is a CVM to monitor voltage from a fuel cell. The technical support of the company that makes these devices says that the data is sent in little endian form. And I want to convert it to a float value. The tech support sent me the next instructions of how to do it but I am new using codesys, so any advice or help I will really appreciate so much. Message from tech support: The process is complicated, better to do it with already implemented library in the language/program you use. Basically the process should be next: To convert the two Modbus registers containing parts of a 32-bit float in little-endian byte order to a floating-point number using mathematical operations, you first need to combine the two 16-bit integers (assuming reg1 is the lower word and reg2 is the higher word) and then interpret the result according to the IEEE 754 standard. Given: - Register 192 (reg1) = 4096 - Register 193 (reg2) = 14884 Step 1: Combine the two registers. Since we are dealing with little-endian byte order, reg2 is the high word, and reg1 is the low word: combined = reg2 * 2^16 + reg1 combined = 14884 * 65536 + 4096 combined = 975175680 + 4096 combined = 975179776 Step 2: Convert the combined value to binary: combined_binary = '1110101101011100000000000000000' Step 3: Split the binary into IEEE 754 components: Sign bit (1 bit): 0 Exponent (8 bits): 11101011 Mantissa (23 bits): 01011100000000000000000 Step 4: Convert the binary exponent to decimal and subtract the bias (127 for 32-bit floats): exponent = int('11101011', 2) - 127 exponent = 235 - 127 exponent = 108 Step 5: Calculate the mantissa as a fraction: The mantissa in IEEE 754 format is the fractional part after the leading 1 (which is implicit). Hello, I am facing an issue with my Ethernet-based project in Codesys. My product was functioning well until I modified the protocol stack and uploaded it to my device. Here are the details of my problem: Project Setup: I am working on an Ethernet-based project to test my product. The project was running without issues before modifying the protocol stack. Issue: After modifying the protocol stack and uploading it to my device, I am encountering an error in Codesys related to the forward open connections. Error status: connection failure, extended: connection in use or duplicate forward open. According to the Ethernet/IP protocol in codesys, there are three forward open connections that need to be established. The first two connections are opening without any issues. The third connection, which is an input-only connection, is causing problems. The error message indicates that the connection is already open. Debugging Attempts: I have extensively debugged the protocol stack and found no issues. The product works well when tested with EIP tools but not with Codesys. Exclusive owner connections are working correctly, and only the input-only connection is problematic. Wireshark Traces: Wireshark traces show that the third connection attempts to open but reports that it is already open. Steps to Reproduce: Modify the protocol stack and upload it to the device. Attempt to establish three forward open connections in Codesys. Observe the error on the third connection (input-only). Hello, I am facing an issue with my Ethernet-based project in Codesys. My product was functioning well until I modified the protocol stack and uploaded it to my device. Here are the details of my problem: Project Setup: I am working on an Ethernet-based project to test my product. The project was running without issues before modifying the protocol stack. Issue: After modifying the protocol stack and uploading it to my device, I am encountering an error in Codesys related to the forward open connections. Error status: connection failure, extended: connection in use or duplicate forward open. According to the Ethernet/IP protocol, there are three forward open connections that need to be established. The first two connections are opening without any issues. The third connection, which is an input-only connection, is causing problems. The error message indicates that the connection is already open. Debugging Attempts: I have extensively debugged the protocol stack and found no issues. The product works well when tested with EIP tools but not with Codesys. Exclusive owner connections are working correctly, and only the input-only connection is problematic. Wireshark Traces: Wireshark traces show that the third connection attempts to open but reports that it is already open. Steps to Reproduce: Modify the protocol stack and upload it to the device. Attempt to establish three forward open connections in Codesys. Observe the error on the third connection (input-only). Hello and thanks for reply. I not have "Libray Manager" on "Update Device". I not try to open project but i open Codesys and then create a new project and when try to generate code i have the error :/ I notiche a strnge situation. I have two different software on my pc: CODESYS V3.5 SP15 Patch 4 (with this my new program not work but can open and work with some course example); CODESYS V3.5 SP19 Patch 2 (with this my custom program work) Wich version i must be choose? Why i have two different version? Thanks
